Sarah’s parents might live overseas now, but they still kept up with what was happening back in Cabinda. So, when Sarah got the chance, she didn’t keep anything from them. She told them all about Larry. “He’s my boyfriend, his name is Larry Adams. He just took over The Adams Group. He’s actually pretty amazing…”
Larry stood next to her while she chatted on the phone, and even though he usually kept his cool, he felt a little nervous this time.
Luckily, her parents didn’t object at all. “Sarah always had good taste. If you think he’s great, we trust you,” her mom said.
“Of course. As long as our baby girl is happy. Oh, by the way, I heard Jordan Smith is back in town. Make sure you tell him about this before he finds out from someone else, or he’ll throw a fit.”
Sarah grinned. “It’s already too late, but honestly, he’s probably too busy with Aurora right now to care about me.”
Her mom perked up, sounding excited. “Wait, what’s going on? I just got a son-in-law, and now I might get a daughter-in-law too?”
Sarah couldn’t help but laugh. “You definitely have a son-in-law, but the daughter-in-law thing isn’t guaranteed. From what I saw, Jordan really messed up. Aurora was so mad at him. I doubt he can fix this anytime soon.”
She’d barely finished when she heard her parents both click their tongues on the other end. Her mom sighed. “Honestly, I get it. Jordan is so uptight and serious. Even your dad and I can’t stand it. Aurora should make him work for it. Anyway, you’re the impressive one, Sarah. You have a boyfriend already!”
“Exactly!” Sarah agreed, feeling totally in sync with her parents for once.
It felt good to have people on her side. Her mom added, “You and Larry should take good care of each other. When your dad and I finish our trip, we’ll come back to Cabinda, and we’ll all go out for a nice dinner.”
“Sounds perfect! No rush, you two have fun! And bring me something cool from your trip, okay?”
Sarah hung up, still smiling, and turned toward Larry. “Did you hear that? My parents totally approve of you. They even told us to treat each other well.”
