The most jaw-dropping event of the night, hands down, was Mr. Williams—the famously elusive billionaire—stepping into the spotlight and publicly confirming his relationship.
In a single evening, Camila Davis’s name was on everyone’s lips in high society.
People couldn’t stop speculating: what on earth did she do to make Mr. Williams—usually so aloof and untouchable—stand up for her and publicly humiliate Jonathan Allen?
It wasn’t just the fact that Mr. Williams called Jonathan out; he actually made the guy slap himself in front of everyone. Talk about losing face.
And of course, in this crowd, there’s never any shortage of people who love a good scandal.
A lot of folks figured this wasn’t over for Jonathan Allen—if anything, it was just the beginning of his troubles.
Meanwhile, at the Allen estate…
Ronald and Linda Allen were beside themselves as they stared at their son, his face swollen and bruised.
They’d spoiled Jonathan rotten since he was a kid—how could anyone treat their son like this?
Linda was furious. “Dennis Williams has gone way too far! I don’t care how rich or powerful he is, he can’t just walk all over us!”
Ronald, though, was a little more level-headed.
“I know you’re hurt, but you brought this on yourself. How many times have I told you—you can have your fun, but don’t cross the line.
Of all people, why would you mess with his girlfriend? Are you out of your mind?”
Jonathan sulked, hurt by the scolding. “I didn’t think he’d go for a girl like that! Dad, he humiliated me today—who’s to say he won’t come after our family tomorrow? The Allens are a respected name in New York, you have to do something!”
Before Ronald could respond, Jonathan’s older brother, Zach, cut in with a snort. “You’re an idiot. You want to get even? You really have no idea what you’re dealing with.
Right now, your only shot is to get out of the country while this is still fresh. I’ve already booked you a flight. Pack your stuff and get moving.”
Jonathan blinked at his brother, confused. “Why? What’s the big deal?”
Zach almost laughed. “Are you really that clueless? You think Dennis Williams is just going to let this slide?
Do you actually believe the Allens can take him on? This is the guy who took down the entire Collins family like it was nothing, and built NextGen Technologies into a global giant all by himself.
He doesn’t care about us. If you want any chance at all, you need to disappear for a while—or you’ll drag us all down with you.”
Linda looked at her older son, worried. “Zach, do you really think it’s that serious? Maybe you’re exaggerating?”
