Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 635

The bodyguard’s face tightened as he finished reading the message, his brows knitting together. He turned to his partner and said, “Take him back. Let’s see what he really knows.”

Hearing this, the man’s bravado vanished, replaced by panic. “What are you doing? You can’t just—this is illegal! You—mmph—” Before he could finish, someone clamped a hand over his mouth and hustled him into a different car.

The bodyguard wasted no time. He pulled out his phone and dialed Aaron, giving him a quick rundown of the situation.

Aaron listened, his own brow furrowing deeper with each word. “Find out exactly what they’re after,” he ordered. “No loose ends.”

“Understood,” the bodyguard replied, already moving to make the arrangements.

A few minutes later, Aaron’s phone buzzed again. The bodyguard’s voice was brisk. “Here’s what I got: the guy’s a new hire at the Lee Corporation. Cynthia Lee paid him a hefty sum to play paparazzi—she wanted him tailing Mr. Williams and Ms. Davis to see what they’re up to.”

Aaron hung up, his mind racing. Without another word, he marched straight into Dennis Williams’ office, handing him the evidence.

Dennis glanced down at the stack of photos: every single one featured him and Camila Davis, some even showed little Lillian at their side. His expression was unreadable, cool as ever. Finally, he spoke. “Get rid of him. Make sure he never sets foot in Cape Haven again. And tighten security around Camila and Lillian—no strangers get close. Camila wants a quiet life. Make sure nothing disturbs her. If anyone tries to start trouble, don’t let it get anywhere near her.”

“I’ll see to it,” Aaron promised.

He couldn’t help but marvel—Mr. Williams was usually the picture of composure, but when it came to Ms. Davis, he was fiercely protective.

Aaron hesitated before adding, “Cynthia Lee clearly hasn’t given up yet. Word is, ever since that charity gala, she’s been the butt of a lot of jokes. That’s probably why she sent someone to snoop around. The guy started tailing you right after you left the Smith estate this morning.”

Dennis’ eyes hardened. “Warn the Lees. I’m only letting this slide because of my grandfather. But if it happens again, I won’t be so forgiving.”

“And if your grandfather asks questions?” Aaron pressed.

Dennis waved him off. “Let him. He should know where I stand.”

“Understood.”
