Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 679

Walter Wilson was left speechless by her remark, a sharp retort stuck in his chest, leaving him almost breathless.

His irritation only deepened.

If only he’d spoken up back then, they wouldn’t be in this mess now.

Had he known it would come to this, he should’ve been shameless enough to demand something in return for his help, just a little bit selfish for once.

Camila Davis watched his shifting expression, growing even more bewildered—and, truth be told, quite curious.

She’d known this guy for years. Sure, Walter’s moods could be unpredictable at times, but she’d never seen him so completely at a loss, unable to control his emotions.

Unable to resist, Camila blurted out, “Wait a second—did you get dumped or something?”

To her surprise, Walter’s face changed instantly, disbelief flickering in his eyes as he stared at her. “You… can tell?”

Camila’s own eyes widened. “Oh my god, you really did get dumped?”

But then she frowned, her shock only growing. “Hold on a minute. You have feelings for someone? Who? How come I never heard about this?”

Walter nearly choked.

And here he was, thinking she’d finally figured it out. Turns out, he was the only one overthinking everything.

“You—” Words caught in his throat, and he couldn’t get anything else out.

Up in the driver’s seat, Aiden, who’d been quietly listening to their exchange, couldn’t help but feel a pang of sympathy for his boss.

When it was time to confess, did he do it properly? No. When he had the chance to speak up, did he say what mattered? Of course not.

When he should’ve seized the moment, he played it safe, letting things simmer. And by the time he realized he needed to act, the person he cared about had already been swept away.

“Wow, I can’t believe Ms. Davis booked this place.”

“I know this spot—it’s The Gilded Fork, the most famous restaurant in Cabinda! I heard you have to book months in advance, and they only serve a handful of tables each day.”

“That’s not even the half of it. I heard just a simple meal here costs at least ten grand.”

Colleagues unfamiliar with The Gilded Fork looked at Camila with newfound respect after hearing the whispers.

“Ms. Davis, you really went all out for this.”

“Honestly, you could’ve just picked any regular place, and we’d have been happy.”

But the fact that Camila had chosen The Gilded Fork made it clear to everyone just how much she valued them. After all, who else would go to such lengths to welcome their team with a dinner at the most exclusive place in town?
