Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 745

He always had that rakish charm, but in this moment, there was a trace of melancholy about him that was hard to ignore.

That fleeting posture—there was something inexplicably captivating about it.

“Yeah, I guess I’m not ready to give up yet. But honestly, what good is that going to do me?”

His own indecision had cost him the chance to act first.

By the time he realized what he wanted, it was already too late...

He could still hear his mother’s words ringing in his ears before he left on this trip: “I gave you your chance back then, and you blew it!

When she was still single, you didn’t chase after her.

Later, when she got divorced and you two were together all the time, you still didn’t make a move.

Now, another man’s swept her off her feet, and suddenly you’re full of regrets.

Let me tell you, Walter Wilson, if things don’t work out for Camila in Cabinda, fine—I’ll support you bringing her back!

But if she’s happy there, you better listen to me: Don’t you dare get in the way, don’t mess up her life or her happiness!

If I find out you’ve pulled any of that nonsense, I’ll personally come to Cabinda and break your legs!”

His usually gentle, gracious mother had shown a side of herself he’d never seen before.

Thinking back on her warnings, Walter couldn’t help but let out a short, self-deprecating laugh.

He thought, Mrs. Wilson really doesn’t understand her son at all.

When it came to Camila Davis, it didn’t matter if it was then or now—he never had any boundaries with her.

And as for wrecking her happiness? He couldn’t even imagine it.

He’d never have the heart to do that.

Sarah Brown caught the distant, wounded look in his eyes, and it left her feeling strangely unsettled.

Suddenly, she realized that the question she’d just asked him had been a bit cruel.

Camila blinked at her phone, not sure what to make of this dramatic declaration.

What was Sarah on about now?

She typed back, “What happened?”

Sarah replied almost immediately: “Nothing, nothing, I just feel like I’m an exceptionally amazing, sweet friend. Just saying.”

Camila stared at the response in exasperation, half-convinced Sarah was drunk again.

After a moment’s thought, she called her just to check. As soon as Sarah picked up, Camila asked, “Sarah, are you drinking again tonight?”

Sarah chuckled, “How’d you know I was having a drink?”

Camila laughed. “You’re not making any sense. How much have you had? Are you sure you can get home on your own?”

Sarah giggled. “Don’t worry about me, Walter Wilson is here too. We’ll head back soon.”

Hearing that Walter was with her, Camila relaxed, but still reminded her, “Don’t overdo it, okay? You both have work tomorrow.”
