Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 757

That day, hearts broke all across NextGen Technologies. Countless daydreaming romantics—especially among the younger women—saw their hopes dashed in an instant.

Everyone was rattled. Rumors had been swirling that the CEO had secretly gotten married and even had a child during his long absence from the public eye.

Now, curiosity about the elusive “lady of the house” ran rampant. What kind of woman could possibly capture the heart of their legendary boss? Speculation was endless—yet after a whole month, not a single soul had caught a glimpse of anyone who might fit the bill.

Soon, another wave of gossip rolled in: Maybe he’d already divorced? Why else would the CEO be seen bringing his daughter around, but never his wife?

But just a few days later, the “lady of the house” finally appeared.

When the news broke, every woman still clinging to her secret crush was devastated.

Meanwhile, Dennis Williams himself was the picture of composure, walking straight through the lobby with Camila Davis by his side. He didn’t so much as glance at the onlookers as he led her to the CEO’s private elevator.

Camila could feel every pair of eyes on her as they walked. She couldn’t help but whisper, a little embarrassed, “Why are they all looking at me like I’m some kind of rare animal?”

Dennis chuckled under his breath. “In a way, you are.”

Aaron, Dennis’s assistant, grinned and chimed in, “You probably don’t know this, but except for Ms. Williams, Mr. Williams has never brought any other woman to The Smith Group. Of course everyone’s curious.”

Camila let out a helpless laugh. “Then when he brought Lillian here the other day, that must’ve blown their minds.”

Aaron nodded emphatically. “Exactly! Mr. Williams has been coming in with his daughter for days, all by himself. People started to wonder if he was divorced. Some were even dreaming about being Lillian’s new stepmom!”

Camila shook her head, half amused, half incredulous. She glanced at Dennis, teasing, “Mr. Williams, your charm really is something else.”

Dennis responded modestly, “You give me too much credit.”

The elevator began its smooth ascent as the three of them chatted.

No sooner had they reached the top floor than Camila was nearly swept off her feet by a warm embrace.

Startled, she looked up and found herself face-to-face with Audrey Williams.

“Camila! There you are!”

Audrey beamed at her, eyes sparkling with excitement. “I just saw in our work chat that Jordan brought a woman to The Smith Group, and I knew it had to be you. I was right!”

Camila laughed and returned the hug. “So, did you come up here just for me?”

Camila grinned. “If you’re busy, please don’t let me keep you. I’d hate to distract you from your work.”

Audrey waved her off. “Don’t worry about it. My workload isn’t heavy. You know my health situation—Jordan’s so concerned he assigned me three assistants to help out. I mostly just review documents, sign a few papers, and I still have plenty of free time. I finished everything for today, so now I can keep you company and maybe even show you around!”

Camila, reassured, let herself relax.

Though they hadn’t spent much time together before, conversation flowed easily between them.

Audrey brewed two cups of herbal tea, opened a bag of chips, and settled onto the couch. Naturally, their talk soon turned to Dennis.

She told Camila stories about how her brother had taken over The Smith Group on his own, the hardships he’d faced, how he’d built everything from the ground up.

Camila listened intently, gaining a deeper understanding of her boyfriend’s journey after leaving the Collins family. She’d always admired Dennis, but hearing how he’d graduated overseas as a teenager and single-handedly founded NextGen Technologies, she was even more impressed.

With his uncanny vision, he led The Smith Group into the high-tech sector and, through sheer ability, turned the company into a national asset.

His talent, drive, and boldness were awe-inspiring.

Camila knew, if it had been her, she could never have done what Dennis had. And that made her all the prouder to be by his side.
