Cynthia's smile tightened. "Just a sister? But Audrey… you should know I want to be more than just your sister."
Audrey blinked, feigning confusion.
Realizing she might be coming on too strong, Cynthia softened her tone. "Audrey, tell me honestly. Do you really approve of this thing between Dennis and Camila Davis?"
"Well…" Audrey's expression turned troubled. She had suspected this spa invitation was about more than just pampering, and now here it was. But she was more than capable of handling it.
She sighed dramatically. "Cynthia, everyone knows about Dennis and Camila now. Whether I approve or not doesn't really change anything. You know how stubborn Dennis is. Once he makes a decision, no one can change his mind, not even his family!"
"That's not true!" Cynthia said urgently. "Family is different. Dennis cares about you all deeply, and he adores you. What you say carries weight with him!"
Maintaining a neutral expression, Audrey offered a weak rebuttal. "I don't think it's that serious…"
"But it is!" Cynthia insisted, growing more agitated. "You and Dennis just don't hear it. But believe me, behind closed doors, the entire upper echelon of Cabinda is laughing at him. They think it's a joke that a man of his caliber would want damaged goods. The gossip has even spread to other elite circles in the country! Dennis's pristine reputation, built over so many years, is being ruined by this one woman. Now, whenever people talk about him, they bring up her past."
Cynthia sighed. "Audrey, I know you have a pure heart and you've always listened to Dennis. It's hard for you to judge these major life decisions. But please, believe me. I'm only saying this for his good, and for the good of your entire family…"
