Larry’s eyes remained fixed on Mr. Adams as a cold smile touched his lips. “The fate of a murderer and her accomplices should be ten, a hundred times more brutal than this. And as for the Adams Group… it’s the source of their arrogance, the reason they acted so recklessly. Perhaps I’ll be satisfied when it’s destroyed. Don’t worry, Grandfather,” he said, his voice dropping to a glacial whisper, “I’ll make sure tonight’s events make the front page. The entire country, maybe even the whole world, will see the truth.”
His tone was utterly detached, as if he no longer cared about the family’s survival.
Mr. Adams’s face turned ashen. “No, you can’t do that…”
He tried to stop him. What happened tonight was humiliating, but it had happened on their own turf. If he put the word out, those who feared the Adams family wouldn't dare spread rumors, and eventually, the talk would die down. But if it hit the news, the Adams Group’s stock would plummet. The financial losses would be catastrophic.
But that wasn’t his greatest fear. In his eyes, both Brian and Larry were his grandsons. Though he favored Brian, if he couldn’t save him, at least the family would still have Larry. With the Williams family’s support, the Adams family wouldn’t suffer under his leadership. But now, he saw in his grandson’s eyes a complete disregard for their legacy. It wasn’t just indifference; it was a burning desire for revenge, for utter destruction.
Larry would no longer listen to him. The realization sent a wave of despair through Mr. Adams.
Larry turned his back on the old man and walked out of the banquet hall.
“Larry, wait! Stop!” Mr. Adams cried out, scrambling to follow him. But he was old and slow, no match for a young man. By the time he reached the exit, Larry was gone.
