Sylvara's Rebirth: A New Dawn for Abel novel Chapter 101

**Title: The Third Signature by Mark Twain**
**Chapter 101: Not Your Mentor**

Aslan was in a frenzy, his hands flailing as he desperately sought to shift the blame away from himself. “No, no! It was that fool, Drenvar, who shuffled her off to the wrong department!” he exclaimed, his voice tinged with urgency. “I only came to switch her back. As my mentor, I trust you will understand and allow this.”

Malcolm Knowles, however, was having none of it. He glared at Aslan, his expression a mix of disbelief and disdain. “Hold on just a minute! Don’t you dare try to butter me up. Who says I’m your mentor? If you utter one more word, I’ll be forced to take legal action for dragging my name through the mud.” His voice was sharp, and he extended a warning fist in Aslan’s direction, as if to emphasize the gravity of his words. “And let me make this clear: I couldn’t care less who made the mistake. Anyone who steps through my door becomes my responsibility. How dare you attempt to poach my student! You’ve got some nerve!”

Aslan felt the weight of Malcolm’s words pressing down on him, and he rushed to clarify, “But Mr. Knowles, didn’t you declare that you weren’t accepting any new students? The one currently in there is completely drained of mental energy, and her physical stats are rated an H. She doesn’t even come close to meeting your standards!”

Malcolm’s eyes widened in surprise, and his beard trembled as he sneered. “Oh, I know I said I wasn’t taking students anymore—especially not idiots like you who can’t even manage to fry an egg properly. It’s downright embarrassing. Why on earth would I want anyone like you in my class?”

Aslan’s heart sank at the insult. He had built a respectable standing in the field of agriculture and even held a medical license as a healer. Yet, in front of Malcolm, he felt utterly diminished and humiliated.

“No, Mr. Knowles, you can’t be this callous. She genuinely is my student! Didn’t I mention before? A new Level-7 Plant Healer has emerged!”

Malcolm’s disdain only intensified, his eyes narrowing further. “I’m not some reclusive old man living on a desolate planet. Before you even opened your mouth, I was already aware that a new Level-7 Plant Healer had surfaced on Starnet.”

It was clear that he was unwilling to concede that he had learned about the Level-7 Plant Healer from Aslan.

Feeling the sting of rejection once again, Aslan took a deep breath and pointed emphatically at the door. “Mr. Knowles, the girl inside knows the Level-7 Plant Healer personally. She’s that ‘Sylvaracorpse’ from online!”

He continued, his voice rising with enthusiasm, “So, I thought, compared to her culinary skills, she’s far superior at growing things. If you would just lift a finger, you could have a line of brilliant minds waiting to be your apprentices.”

Aslan’s desperation grew as he added, “And among all your students, I’ve only ever encountered one with this level of talent in agriculture. Please, I implore you, don’t fight me for her!”

Malcolm’s expression shifted slightly, a flicker of interest crossing his face. His cloudy eyes sparkled with intrigue. “So, you’re telling me she can whip up lemon chicken? And honey ribs? Even a proper steak?”

He paused, a glint of excitement in his voice. “Handmade caramel candies, grilled lemon slices, polished red apples, stunning grapes, and sweet oranges that I’ve never even tasted before?”

Aslan felt a pang of frustration. Was that really what mattered?

No, that wasn’t the point at all.
