Sylvara concluded her message and pressed the send button, her heart racing with a mix of anticipation and anxiety.

Finished.
In a wild, untamed landscape, Agares stood tall, having just taken down a donkey and a tiger. Now, he found himself surrounded by a formidable pack of lions. The air around him crackled with tension, his commanding presence eliciting low growls from the beasts, who clearly recognized the danger he posed. They circled him cautiously, wary of making any sudden moves.
With deliberate slowness, he raised his wrist, his gaze fixed on the blinking notification of a new unread voice message on his optical computer. It was yet another message from his wife, and he felt a flutter of warmth at the thought of her.
For a brief moment, he hesitated, then pressed play.
Her voice emerged, softer and sweeter than he remembered, like honey dripping from the comb. “Honey, I promise I’ll be good. I won’t act cute. When training wraps up, I’ll come to Kolar planet to see you. Please don’t be as mean as you were before. It really scares me.”
Just then, a male lion lunged at him, a fierce growl escaping its throat.
Agares remained unfazed. With a casual twist of his wrist, he caught the lion mid-attack, breaking its neck with a single, fluid motion before tossing its hefty body aside like a discarded toy.
The lion thudded heavily against the ground, its plans of tearing apart the intruder shattered in an instant.
“Ms. Feywin, sending voice messages to your husband?” Zolensky’s voice broke through the tension, his tone laced with mockery as his unsympathetic teammates shoved him forward. They were eager to uncover the mystery behind the woman who seemed to have a soft spot for their stoic leader.
Sylvara barely looked up from her optical computer as she adjusted the note she had just created. “Yeah, and what of it?” she replied coolly, her voice steady.
Zolensky shot a glare at his friends before forcing a smile that didn’t quite reach his eyes. “Oh, nothing much. Just thought it was interesting how you seem to maintain such a good relationship with your husband. You know how it is for us frontline soldiers—home is a rare luxury, and feelings can fade into the background.”
He leaned in slightly, curiosity glimmering in his eyes. “So, we were wondering, how do you two keep things lively and close? Any tips?”
At that moment, Sylvara had just renamed Agares’ contact to “Dear Honey” and was about to exit when another voice message from him arrived. It auto-played before she could react. His voice came through, low and rugged, with an undertone of stubborn gentleness. “I wasn’t being harsh with you.”
Zolensky’s jaw dropped, his eyes wide with disbelief. “Ms. Feywin, why does your husband sound exactly like our commander?!”
Panic surged through her. That was a rookie mistake, and here she was, standing in front of one of her husband’s subordinates.
