**Chapter 15: A Mutated Dog**
The moment Raclynn laid eyes on Sylvara, an impulsive surge of anger coursed through her veins, and without a second thought, she shoved Sylvara aside.
“Stay away from me!” Raclynn spat, her voice dripping with disdain.
Her intention was clear: she aimed to tarnish this freshman’s reputation, to humiliate her publicly, and to ensure that Sylvara became a pariah among her peers.
“How fast I am is none of your business, you thief! Thieves like you aren’t welcome here. Get out!” Raclynn bellowed, her voice echoing through the hall. The force of her words drew the attention of other newcomers, who began to gather, curiosity piqued by the commotion.
Raelynn’s heart raced with excitement as she noticed the growing crowd. With a gleam in her eye, she pointed an accusatory finger at Sylvara, her voice rising above the din. “Hey, everyone, come take a look! Who let someone like this in? All she does is try to steal from a natural food store!”
Her words were laced with venom, and they struck a chord with the onlookers. “If someone like her joins the Fifth Academy, it’ll ruin our reputations. When we graduate, it’ll affect us too. We need to stand together and push her out!” The fervor in her voice was contagious, igniting a wave of hostility among the crowd.
These students were barely on the cusp of adulthood, just eighteen or nineteen, yet they were easily swayed by their emotions. Their parents watched nearby, their expressions mirroring the rising tension.
Soon, the glances directed at Sylvara became increasingly hostile.
“Stealing from a natural food store? Is she out of her mind?” one student remarked, shaking his head in disbelief.
“She doesn’t look well-off. Maybe she just wanted to try the natural food?” another countered, a hint of sympathy in his tone.
“If she can’t even control her eating, how will she study?” someone else chimed in, skepticism dripping from their words.
“She looks weak and tired. She probably used connections to get in. What a loser,” another voice sneered, laughter rippling through the group.
Sylvara listened to their cruel comments, her heart pounding in her chest. Taking a deep breath, she stepped forward, her gaze unwavering as she addressed the crowd. “In the Troya Empire, the law clearly states that spreading false rumors without proof is a criminal offense.”
Her voice was calm yet commanding, cutting through the cacophony of jeers. “If you’re making up stories here, be ready to face the consequences.”
An unexpected silence fell over the group, the weight of her words hanging in the air. Sylvara allowed herself a small, satisfied smile as she turned her attention back to Raelynn. “I wasn’t going to sue you first. I thought maybe you’d realize your mistake and stop looking down on people.”
Her tone shifted, becoming more resolute. “But you used your status as a sophomore at the Fifth Military Academy to slander me and rally others? I’ve changed my mind. I’m suing you. Prepare yourself.”
Raelynn’s body trembled at the gravity of Sylvara’s words. The confident facade she had worn so proudly began to crumble, fear etched across her features. “You’re bluffing! I’m not afraid of you,” she retorted, though her voice lacked conviction.
“Really?” Sylvara replied, her tone icy, sending a chill down Raelynn’s spine.
