Sylvara's Rebirth: A New Dawn for Abel novel Chapter 161

Chapter 161 Hiding True Strength

Finished

She pulled her mental power back, blocked out the world, wrapped it tightly around herself, then raised her optical computer and tapped record. Her voice came out instantly soft, syrupy, trembling-pure tearful grievance. “Honey … please don’t divorce me… If you leave me everyone will bully me… I’m so scared…”

She ended the recording, smirked wickedly, and set it to timed send. Then, she released her mental barrier and tapped her comms, lowering her voice into a soldier’s hardened command tone. “Requesting backup. Enemy firepower is overwhelming. The hundred-man unit will not hold. Respond if received. Respond if received.”

A channel crackled back, “Received. Second Academy fifty-man unit converging 1.8 miles west.”

Another channel chimed in, “Received. First Academy twenty-man unit converging 1.8 miles west.”

The instructor channel chimed in next, “All units, respond.”

“All units, responding.”

“Responding.”

Sylvara answered, evenly, “Responding.”

Instructor channel continued briskly, “Hundred-man unit flanks from the left. Fifty-man unit flanks from the right. Twenty-man unit circles behind. Instructor group-fifteen-man-front assault. ETA to target?”

The hundred-man unit said, “Eight minutes.”

The fifty-man unit answered, “Fifteen.”

The twenty-man unit answered, “Twelve.”

The instructor group said, “Seven minutes.”

Sylvara shot back, “Arrived at target location. Scanning forty-one individuals. Primary anomaly recently killed a Level-6 mutant beast. Threat level high. All units proceed with caution.”

Instructor group replied instantly, “Those already at target location-hide in place, stay concealed, eyes on the Eagle.”

Sylvara said, “Copy.”

She took off running again, eyes scanning for Agares.

Chapter 161 Hajding True Strength

A few minutes later, she found him-behind the hundred-man squad.

Agares crouched on a low branch barely 30 feet behind them, holding a dried stick like it was a prized weapon, gaze locked on the squad like a predator studying prey.

Sylvara watched that branch flick in his hand, and anger flared hot. He was provoking her, mocking her, waving that stick like he was scared she’d miss it.

Sylvara’s temper flared.

No way in hell she’d let the shoulder-badge thief walk free.

Her lips curled into a cold smile. She hid her presence and pressed her comms, “All units, be advised-primary anomaly located directly behind the hundred-man unit. 30 feet. He is preparing a counterhunt.”

The moment her words dropped, the entire hundred-man unit spun as one and charged backward.

Sylvara immediately released her spiritual concealment. Her Smokewillow whip shot up like a lash of green lightning, snapping toward Agares’s back.

Agares moved like he had eyes in his spine. His dried stick-sheathed in tight white sparks of mental energy-looped around her whip and yanked hard.

Sylvara stumbled forward as he dragged her straight toward him.

Branches shook violently. Agares held the whip, eyes sharp as a blade, voice low and commanding. “Ms. Feywin, this is a competition. No internal sabotage.”

Sylvara braced one foot on the branch, swept a kick toward him, and snapped back, “You said yourself-military training is a battlefield. And on the battlefield, everyone who isn’t your teammate is the enemy.

“You’re my enemy in this competition. This isn’t sabotage-this is eliminating a target early.”

Agares flipped backward off the branch, dodging her strike. “You make sense. Which means-if I eliminate you first, I win.”

His body, which had been purely defensive a moment ago, suddenly lunged forward with vicious offense.

Sylvara’s heart dropped. She’d dug this hole. Now, she had to fight her way out.

She tightened her grip on the Smokewillow.
