Sylvara's Rebirth: A New Dawn for Abel novel Chapter 24

**Chapter 24: Where Did the Money Come From?**

Sylvara wasn’t attempting to evade her financial obligations to Jarrick; rather, she was engaged in a negotiation, albeit a tense one. Why, oh why, did he have to look at her as if he were a predator sizing up his next meal?

Jarrick drummed his fingers impatiently on the desk, the sound echoing in the otherwise quiet room. “Ever since this academy was established, we’ve never allowed for installment payments. And honestly, with your low mental energy and physical stats, I’m only trying to protect you.”

His words struck a nerve. “Your mental energy is alarmingly low, and your physical capabilities are practically non-existent. I’m concerned you won’t be able to withstand the rigors of training. Besides, I see here that your fertility value is a mere 25. Why not consider visiting the breeding center? Perhaps that’s where your fortune lies.”

Sylvara bristled at his insinuation. Childbearing was a deeply sensitive topic for her, one she had no intention of entertaining. She had no desire to become a mother or a lab subject; that was precisely why she was so adamant about aligning herself with someone of power. Jarrick had struck a nerve, and she was determined to make him understand her perspective. “In the entire Troya Empire, which boasts a staggering population of 3 billion, the official statistics reveal that 2.8 billion individuals possess mental energy and physical prowess.

That leaves 200 million ordinary people like myself. What, do you look down upon us? Do you not have any ordinary people or relatives in your own family?”

Jarrick’s ire was palpable as he stood up, his frustration simmering just beneath the surface. “What’s got you all worked up? I’m doing this for your own benefit. Given your financial situation, why would you want to put yourself through this?”

“Alright, alright. Just be a good girl and head home. Don’t waste anyone else’s time here.”

In a fit of defiance, Sylvara placed the rainbow pepper plant she had been holding on the desk and brought her palm down with a resounding smack. “I’m insisting on an installment plan today, whether you like it or not!”

Jarrick’s complexion flushed crimson. “Leave this place immediately, or I’ll have you forcibly removed…”

Before he could finish his threat, a sharp cracking sound interrupted him. His gaze dropped to the desk, where a fissure was rapidly spreading from beneath Sylvara’s hand.

The crack widened, the noise escalating into a deafening crescendo. A bead of cold sweat trickled down Jarrick’s forehead as he realized the desk, carved from a single solid block of stone, was cracking under the force of her slap. How could this be happening? Surely, it was a mere coincidence; the desk was ancient and had seen better days.

“What’s going on? Are you still not done with registration?” Aslan, who had just finished reprimanding a few Agriculture Department students outside, strolled in, curiosity piqued.

Jarrick, looking as if he had just been thrown a lifeline, stammered, “As… Aslan… she—she…”

“What about me? You’d better explain yourself right now, or we’re not leaving this place without resolution.” As Sylvara’s voice rang out, she lifted her palm once more. With a thunderous crash, the stone desk before her shattered into countless pieces, sending shards flying in all directions, aimed directly at Jarrick.

The fragments struck him squarely on the head, and he scrambled backward, clutching his head in a panic. No matter where he tried to hide, it was as if those stones had a mind of their own, relentlessly pelting him.

Aslan stood calmly in the room, watching the chaos unfold without a hint of intervention. He could easily surmise what had transpired; Jarrick’s haughty demeanor and penchant for judging others based on their mental energy and physical capabilities had finally caught up with him. A lesson was long overdue.
