Sylvara’s eyes sparked with hope. “You sure no one else has those seeds? Not even His Highness Agares?”

Aslan stopped breathing for a beat. “Are you telling me these grapes came from His Highness Agares?”

She spotted her escape route.

Sylvara nodded fast. “Yes. He gave them to me. He just left my place. Plenty of people saw him.”

Aslan’s gaze sharpened. His tone slid into something smug. “Sweetheart, His Highness Agares is that pretty-faced, long-legged, insanely rich husband of yours, isn’t he? The one who forgot the prenup.”

Sylvara’s eyes went wide. Her voice jumped. “Aslan, you cannot toss stuff like that around just because you know you are handsome. If I were Agares’s wife, a real princess of the Troya Empire, you think I would act this normal? I would drive everyone crazy.”

Aslan took his time studying her. He stared from her head to her shoes. He stared from her left side to her right side. Then his eyes dropped to the grapes in her hands. “If you are not the princess, then you grew these grapes.”

He boxed her in with two terrible answers.

Sly bastard.

I can’t confess to either of those. It’ll be bad.

Sylvara clenched her back teeth. She even judged the odds of knocking him out and hiding the problem.

Aslan watched her silence and chuckled like a villain. He tapped his wrist unit. A projection lit the air. “Look at this. Starnet already blew up. Let me read it to you. His Highness Agares’s new bride followed his military path. They registered their marriage, and she went straight to The Fifth Military Academy. She wanted to match him.”

He skipped the mental-energy comments on purpose. Then he kept going. “His Highness found out his new wife went to The Fifth Military Academy. He flew his warship there to drop

her off.

“Why not The First Military Academy? Because the princess likes The Fifth Military Academy. His Highness respects every choice she makes.”

He pointed at the projection. “Sweetheart, his pictures are everywhere. Your husband looks

unreal. That face, those legs, that waist, those shoulders. Even his hands look sinful. I am a guy, and I still felt it.”

Sylvara felt a twitch in her jaw. He kept jabbing her. He wanted her to break. He’s taunting me. Trying to make me give in.

The projection slid on.

Starnet users had nothing to do with their lives.

They typed comment after comment.

“The princess knew His Highness had no fertility value and still married him. It must be true love.”

Sylvara rolled her eyes in her head. She had married him because he had no fertility value. He was strong. He held power. He was gorgeous. And yes, his legs were great.

Another comment flashed.

“His Highness never misuses military ships. He used one for his wife. Heroes fall for beauty. And this one spoils his wife.”

If only they knew.

Agares had chased a Swarmborn host across the Fifth and Eighth Sectors and bumped into her by accident.

This crowd lacked imagination.

Another line came next.

ļ

“Who is this woman who made the Empire’s war god melt? Curious.”

A long row of curious people followed. They even dropped their optical computer numbers like they were signing up for a raffle.

Sylvara judged all of them.

They had no creativity. They had no vocabulary. Not one of them captured the vibe of a king giving up his duties for a woman.

She read through the mess, complained in her head, then aimed her attention back at Aslan. “Tell me something. Are the grapes bad, or do you secretly like Agares? Why do you keep pushing me to say I am his wife?”

Aw, sweetheart. You can be so stubborn.
