Sylvara's Rebirth: A New Dawn for Abel novel Chapter 66

**Chapter 66: The Perks**

Consider the Combat Department for a moment. If you’re the chief there, you command your own squadron. Triumph in battles against rival teams? You get to share the glory and rewards with your crew, strutting around like royalty, basking in the envy of others.

Now, think about the Healing Department chiefs. They enjoy direct access to elite, imperial-level healers and even have the privilege of training alongside them in the most prestigious legions.

In essence, every department boasts its own set of jaw-dropping perks.

Sylvara felt a deep sigh escape her lips, a mix of longing and resignation bubbling within her.

She was undeniably tempted. In fact, she found herself retracting all those biting remarks she had hurled at Aslan earlier.

With a determined flick, she snapped the patch back onto her arm and shot a bright grin at Veyric. “You know, being a chief doesn’t sound so terrible after all. Not that I’m particularly interested in the 25 acres or the fertilizer money. It’s just… someone went out of their way to extend their kindness to me. I can’t just throw that away.”

“Good. And don’t you dare even think about quitting again,” Veyric replied, his voice taking on a serious tone, the weight of his words hanging in the air. “Securing that position is no small feat, especially for someone like you, hailing from a waste planet. If you can hold onto this position and graduate with top scores, you’ll have the chance to settle on a planet in the Fifth Sector or even higher.”

Sylvara nodded, a newfound humility washing over her. “You’re right. I was mistaken before. I’ll put in the effort, maintain this chief position, and one day, I’ll leave this waste planet behind for a world in the Fifth Sector.”

“Fight for it,” Veyric urged, a swell of pride filling him, as if he had just rescued a lost chief from the brink of giving up on her dreams.

Meanwhile, Sylvara’s mind was already racing with plans. While she held this chief title, she would gather as many seeds as she could. Later, when she secured Agares as her bargain-bin husband, she could cultivate the land and ensure he would be well-fed for life.

Veyric had his own agenda—he intended to keep a watchful eye on Sylvara, determined to prevent anyone from taking advantage of her.

Lost in their thoughts, they continued walking until the vast plaza came into view.

The place was teeming with people, not just freshmen but upperclassmen too. Whispers flitted through the crowd like fireflies, speculating about the identity of the commander’s wife. Could she be one of the new chiefs?

They also buzzed about the enigmatic “Sylvaracorpse” that was trending on StarNet, and whether the Level-7 Plant Healer she was rumored to know had made an appearance at the academy.

Sylvara tilted her head, tuning in to the snippets of gossip swirling around her. On the stage, Drenvar surveyed the crowd, his voice booming with authority. “Welcome to the freshman ceremony! Now, let’s have the first-year chiefs from each department come up!”
