**Chapter 94: Celebrating Too Soon**
Seraphine’s expression transformed in an instant, a mix of shock and indignation washing over her as she delivered a sharp slap to Miralys’s face. “Forgive me, Your Highness,” she implored, her voice laced with desperation. “My child often speaks without considering the consequences and lacks the wisdom to know when to remain silent. Please, I beg of you, do not hold her words against her.”
Miralys, rubbing her stinging cheek, retorted hotly, “How is it that I am the one speaking without thought? I am simply stating the truth! Sylvara is misbehaving at the academy! You nurtured her, cared for her, and instead of gratitude, she repays you with violence.”
“His Highness Agares is the esteemed idol and protector of the Empire. How can he possibly marry someone like her? How can he allow himself to be humiliated in such a way?” Miralys’s voice trembled with indignation as she spoke, her heart racing at the thought of Sylvara’s audacity.
“You’re still talking…” Seraphine began, her patience wearing thin, but her words were cut off by Agares’s icy interruption.
“Ladies, please, a moment of your time,” he said, his tone as cold as the winter wind, halting Seraphine mid-sentence as she raised her hand once more, ready to strike Miralys again.
Seraphine’s heart soared with hope, believing that Agares had listened to her plea and would return to annul his connection with the disgrace that was Sylvara. “Your Highness,” she said eagerly, “rest assured, if you come back and divorce my daughter, we will remain silent. We will protect your reputation and ensure that no one learns of the humiliation she has caused you.”
Agares lowered his gaze, his fingers deftly tapping on his optical computer as he sent a message into the void. After a moment, he looked up, his piercing eyes locking onto both women. “Mrs. Mordrel, Ms. Miralys, do you fully accept responsibility for everything you have just said?”
Miralys’s voice rose defiantly, “Absolutely! If you have any doubts, you are welcome to visit the Fifth Military Academy to verify for yourself if she is indeed misbehaving. You can even watch her livestreams. Did she not refer to someone else as her husband?”
In her fervor, Miralys completely overlooked the fact that the husband Sylvara mentioned in her livestream was, in fact, Agares himself. Her mind was clouded with the belief that Sylvara was unworthy of Agares, nothing more than an attention-seeking fool who had latched onto the Level-7 Plant Healer for her own gain. She envisioned Sylvara flitting about, scamming Starnet users, all while basking in their adoration.
“If I were in her position, I would never stoop so low. I would sell the fruits properly and cultivate a respectable relationship with the Level-7 Plant Healer,” she thought, her disdain for Sylvara growing.
Having received their responses, Agares spoke with an air of authority. “Very well then. I ask both of you to remain here for thirty minutes.”
With that, he disconnected from the optical computer, leaving Miralys staring at the blank screen, her heart racing with excitement. “Mom, see? I told you! Once His Highness Agares learned about that trash’s antics, he would undoubtedly divorce her. Was I not correct?”
Seraphine touched Miralys’s cheek gently, pride swelling within her. “My clever daughter! Now, hurry and fetch the healing device to treat your face.”
In that moment, the pain on Miralys’s cheek faded into the background. All she could think about was trampling Sylvara beneath her feet, reducing her to the pitiful, lowly state she had occupied just three months prior. “Thank you, Mom,” she murmured, a smile creeping onto her face.
