Chapter 106
Alfreds POV

After making love, I fell asleep on top of the blankets, mainly because I didn’t want to disturb Vanessa. 1 had put a blanket over her while she was sleeping. When I woke up again, Vanessa was not there. I then heard noises in the kitchen. She was sitting at the bar eating. That was an excellent place for a pregnant woman. They need to eat a lot. She was also looking at some cookbooks. She was writing down some recipes. The one that intrigued me was the recipe for chicken Cordon Bleu. It looked delicious. I had been to restaurants before that had it on the menu. But I never tried it. I could not wait to have it homemade. I told her to write down what she would need to make the recipes. She tore up little pieces of paper and used them for bookmarks.
She wanted to write things down the next day. I’m going to send Mac to get what she needs to make, whatever she wants to make. I knew Mac would help her make things. After helping her back to bed, we went to sleep. I woke up early and planned on serving her breakfast in bed. I wanted her to rest today. I got up and went into the kitchen. Mac was there preparing breakfast.
Good morning, ole friend.”
Good morning, Alpha.”
‘Breakfast smells delicious.”
* Do something light this morning, the Luna is having morning sickness.”
I sat at the bar and watched him make breakfast. He was also starting to make lunch. I knew what he was making from what he was preparing; he was going to make homemade chicken soup. I loved that. It would be perfect for Vanessa. It would be a light lunch, which is perfect when you have an upset stomach. I made two trays and took them to the bedroom. Vanessa was sitting up in bed. I could tell she was getting tired. We ate our breakfast and then she lay down. She was asleep within a few minutes. I sat in the chair in the corner of the room and watched her sleep for a little bit. I had things to do. I needed to meet with the generals. Since Tyler was no longer hiding in the witches’ forest, I needed to come up with a plan to pin him down in the human village.
I reluctantly got up from the chair, then I walked over to the bed and kissed her on top of the head. I walked to the bedroom door, took one last look in her direction, and then left. I went to my office first to look at the map of the human village. There are four entrances and exits. The town square has an open space where you could ambush someone. You would be surrounded if you got caught in the middle of the village, which does not make for a good situation. Usually, we have months of preparation; however, we don’t currently have that time to prepare. I did not like this plan, nor the person who was causing things to speed up. I called Dr. Moser in the office.
*I assume you have combat training.”
‘Yes, Alpha,
Good, we will set up a makeshift hospital while the battle is going on.”
Vanessa will be helping in the hospital.”
‘Yes, Alpha,”
This way, I can keep her close to me and know that she and the baby are safe. I have finished reviewing some financial reports, bank statements, and orders. It was getting close to lunchtime. I was looking forward to soup and salad. It was light, and it would also warm you up from the inside. It was getting colder every day. I left my office and went to the kitchen. I found Vanessa eating some crackers and drinking a Sprite. That is good, it will settle her stomach. We sat down at the table, getting ready for lunch. Mac had bowls, plates, and silverware that he was putting on the table. He then grabbed the pot of soup. At the same time, he was in the middle of serving the soup when a massive explosion happened. The ceiling flew off, and beams started to fall down all around us. A bean fell on my head and knocked me out briefly. When I woke up, Vanessa was stuck under a beam. Blood surrounded her. She was screaming My baby, my baby.
I growled as loud as I could and threw the beam off me. I was by Vanessa’s side within seconds. I threw the beam off her and picked her up. I ran to the hospital. Blood was pouring out of her, When I got to the hospital, the doctor was already waiting for me. He took Vanessa. I tried to follow her into the operating room,
but the doctor stopped me. Then I sat on the floor and started crying. I was going to lose both of them. I could not face that. I was so lost in my grief that I had not realized that Chris, Stacey, my mother, and father had surrounded me. My mother put her hand on my head, trying to calm me. My father was trying to keep people away from me. Chris and Stacey were trying to pick me up off the floor. None of my body wanted to work. My legs were like
Jell-O. I tried to stand, and my legs collapsed.
When they got me into a chair in the hall, I was out of breath. My body has just given up. It felt like months before a nurse ran out of the operating room

carrying something in her arms. Then, in the next few seconds, a nurse was standing in front of me.
Alpha, we need to talk.”
‘The Luna is in critical condition.”
The baby is premature but in critical condition.”
Wait, did she say baby?
What do you mean?”
Your son was born early due to the trauma Luna suffered.”
My head started to spin, and then I blacked out. When I woke up again, I was in a hospital bed. Chris was standing at my bedside.
* Easy there, Alpha.”
You stood up and blacked out.”
“Where’s my son?”
Chris then explained to me that Vanessa was in a coma. Just as he was about to explain more to me, the doctor walked in. Doctor Moser explained to me that Vanessa’s legs were broken, and one of her arms also. However, she is healing slowly due to blood loss. She is getting a transfusion, but she will be in the cast for a while. He then explained to me that our baby had to be born today. He is premature, but he is doing well. He is in the NICU and will be there for a while. I understood that. His healing abilities will not be present until he is bigger. He is just like a human baby right now. He weighed only one pound. But he is longer than most babies. I let out the breath I was holding.
