Chapter 117
Alfreds POV
Once she realized it was me, she hollered that she was in the bedroom, and I found her behind the bed. I could tell she was behind the bed on the floor. I knew she had rolled off the bed because of the thump. Within seconds, I was in front of her and picking her up off the floor.
What are you doing on the floor?”
“I was hiding.”
Little one, that is not a good place to hide.”
Hiding behind the bed was not a good hiding spot, but she was trying to. I was impressed with her effort. Not many people would have tried anything. I then carried her to the living room and wanted to put her on the couch, but she stopped me.
Please don’t sit me on that filthy couch.”
“Everything needs to be cleaned and dusted.”
I know little one.”
* I cleaned the kitchen,”
“Put me on a chair in there.”
She told me that she had cleaned the kitchen. I was shocked that she did that by herself. It must have taken her all afternoon to do it. It looked amazing. I explained to her what happened today, and she said she understood. I don’t know what was more surprising: that she cleaned the whole kitchen from top to bottom by herself, or that she wasn’t mad about what happened today. I then turned around and went to the fridge, getting both of us a bottle of water. She downed hers like she hadn’t drunk anything in hours. I then kissed and said.
“The kitchen looks great, baby.”
She sure knows how to clean. I bet when she gets stronger, she could deep-clean the house in a matter of hours. She then started asking about Junior. On the way over here, I called the hospital and got an update that he was doing great.
‘I want to go see him.’
He is fine.”
“We’ll go see him in the morning.”
She gave me a half smile. She wanted to see him now, but it wasn’t the right time. Tonight was going to be difficult, I had Kolby on our way over here. He would be here in a couple of hours to cast a spell on the dead bodies. If this worked, I would have to rescue Oscar’s sibling and then tighten the boundaries because of the danger we were about to take on. I was taking on a huge burden. Vanessa was my mate; it was my obligation and honor to take on anything that happened to her. All the danger that came with her. I love her and would do anything for her.
* Vanessa, I have to tell you something.”
‘I did not kill those boys who tried to kidnap you.”
‘Really, why?”
Because Robert and Tyler are holding things over their heads.”

Chapter 117
At the mention of Robert’s name, she began shaking and screaming no. Why is she so afraid of him? What did he do to her? She fell off her chair and crawled under the table. She curled up in a ball. She kept saying no repeatedly. She was shaking so badly that I went into the medical bag and I pulled out a syringe with a sedation drug in it. I crawled under the table and pulled her close to me.
“I’m sorry, baby.”
I then stuck the needle into her arm and pushed the liquid into her arm. She was so lost in that trance that she did not feel the needle. Within seconds, she was asleep. I crawled out from under the table and then lifted the table off her. When I had put the table down, she was lying on the floor asleep. I carefully picked her up and carried her to bed. I covered her up. I was deeply disturbed by her reaction. What has she not told me? What horrors did he inflict on her? I was going to find out. I checked on her one more time. She was sleeping. However, she was tossing and turning. I checked the window and made sure it was locked. I went outside the house and checked all the bars that were on the windows. They were all still secured. I then went into the house. I locked the front door behind me. Again, I peeked my head into the bedroom. She was still asleep. But at least she wasn’t tossing or turning now.
1 then got to work on the house. She had already cleaned the kitchen. I started dusting the living room. Changed the couch covers that were on the couch. I made sure to clean all the cobwebs out of the corners of the living room. I then moved the couch and vacuumed underneath it. I vacuumed the entire room. I wiped everything down with Pinesol. After an hour and a half, the living room was clean. I then went into the second bedroom and cleaned it. I changed the sheets. I was lost in cleaning when I heard a blood-curdling scream. I dropped everything and ran into the bedroom. It was Vanessa screaming from a nightmare. I quickly and carefully crawled onto the bed. I gently shook her, waking her up.
Babay, it’s me.”
Wake up, baby, you are safe.”
She woke up, and then she crawled into my lap. She wailed out of control. She was shaking horribly and screaming and crying.
* Baby, I’m going to sedate you.”
* Please stay with me.”
* I will.”
I again grabbed a syringe and again injected her. Within seconds, she fell asleep. I held her for a long time. After, I was sure she was completely asleep. I then got up again. I finished cleaning the house. I then retrieved a bottle of water from the fridge. I sat down at the kitchen table and chugged the water. I was exhausted. Chris mind-linked me, letting me know that Kolby was here. I went to check on Vanessa. She was asleep. I went over to the bed and kissed her. I had mind-linked Stacey to come over here and sit with Vanessa. She agreed. She knew where the safe house was. I waited for her to get there before I left. When she arrived, I again kissed Vanessa on the head. I then left and met Kolby at the warehouse. I explained the plan to him. He agreed to do it.
He cast the spell on the bodies. I had Lucas and Paul drop the bodies. We watched as Tyler and Robert approached the bodies. Paul took it upon himself to capture Tyler. He succeeded. We had Tyler. Robert tucked his tail and ran. He is such a coward. I helped Chris and Paul get Tyler into jail. Kolby cast a spell that drained Tyler of his power for one hundred and twenty hours. Five days. I had that many days to interrogate him and then make him lift the curse. After that, I went back to the safe house. As we approached the house, I could hear screaming. Damn it, Vanessa is having another nightmare. Chris steps on the gas, and we get there faster. I don’t even wait for the car to come to a full stop before I jump out of the car.
