The Alpha Of The Shadow Pack And His Mute Luna (by Beatrice Putnam) novel Chapter 116

Chapter 116

Alfreds POV

Evan, what do you get out of it?”

I got paid five thousand dollars and training for free.”

I thought the witches academy gave all students free training. I know we always gave training for free. We would hold fundraisers to acquire new equipment and other necessary items. The cheerleaders would have car washes, putluck dinners, and we would sell cookies. There were ways to make money for things that were needed. I had never considered charging anyone for training. The karate teacher charged students and the public a yearly fee. But that would include their uniform and books.

Evan, do you have any family?”

No, sir, I do not.”

That would explain why Robert and Tyler managed to send this kid into danger without concern.

What happened to your family?”

Alpha Robert killed them.”

Evan was a warlock, making him human. Oscar is probably in the same situation. I will talk to him separately, as I am with Evan. The question is what to do with them. I know they need to be punished for their crimes. But they are not werewolves, so they could handle a whipping. Vanessa is quite weak. I need to consider my options. I must keep them here and send two dead bodies back to their origin. They interrupted my day. I planned to finish my workout, pick up Vanessa, and take her to the hospital to see our son. My intention for a quiet evening with Vanessa by the fire, sipping hot chocolate, and enjoying cookies, has been disrupted.

They had ruined that. Now, Vanessa was in the safe house. Yes, it had been stocked with food, but it had not been cleaned. I knew she would take it upon herself to clean it. She was there by herself. There was no TV or phone. There are books, a pen, and paper. So she could entertain herself. Also, she was there alone. Guards are patrolling the perimeter. It would be hard for anyone to attack the safe house. There are guards every thirty feet, and they walk back and forth.

Evan, you will be kept in a secure house.”

The secured house is a real house that has bars on its windows. There are guards at both doors. I have those for prisoners who are young and who have done things under threat of being killed. They are also houses we use for people we are projecting. Who has come to town for an event?

Thank you, Alpha.

Chris, get the guards ready for that.”

I went into the next room where Oscar was. He was fighting with Paul. I ran over to him and got him into the chair while Chris tied him up. He was going to be harder to handle. He thought he was a tough guy. He was snarling and growling. He’s a werewolf. That is interesting. The spell that had been cast on him was wearing off, and I could smell him now. He is a rogue. My eyes flashed red. What was a rogue doing working with witches and an Alpha from a pack? I then yelled.

THAT IS ENOUGH.

An alpha’s roar works on rogues. He stopped growling and snarling.

Oscar, I want to have a civil conversation.”:

Go fuck yourself.”

I responded to his remark by knocking him and the chair over. Paul and Chris picked him up. Once he was upright again, I continued.

* Oscar, are you ready to have a conversation?”

‘Yes.’

‘Good.”

Do not make me hit you again.”

‘First, why is a rogue working with witches and an alpha?”

Go fu.”

He did not get to finish what he was about to say. I picked him up by his collar and held him up in the air. His eyes went as wide as an elephant’s. I then sat him down.

Do you want to start again?”

He then explained to me why he was working with the witches. Robert has his sister and brother in his dungeon. He was born a rogue. His father was the alpha of the rogue pack, and Robert killed him and his mother and took them hostage. Oscar is sixteen years old. That was surprising. He was huge for a sixteen-year-old. He was not fat, but he was tall and muscular. I knew his father, Owen. He was a friend of mine. Like Oscar, he was born a rogue, and his father had been an alpha before him. I knew when I banished someone, they would go to him for a safe place to live. Owen and I had that arrangement.

There were two rogue packs. Owen’s pack was structured; they had an alpha and a Luna. The other ones were packs that had no leader but allowed people to live with them. They were always trying to wage war against various packs. Owen never waged war against anyone.

Oscar, what happens to your brother and sister if you don’t return?”

I already knew the answer to that.

  • Robert will kill them.”

“Do you want my help to rescue them, so you can run your pack like your father did?”

“Yeah, I would.”

What happens if you are killed in this little exercise?”

“Then Robert will release them.”

I wasn’t so sure of that. But I had a palm forming in my mind. I had a couple of dead bodies in the morgue. I could get Evan to cast a spell on them to make them look and smell like them. I could then have Evan direct me to the Rendezvous spot. We could drop the bodies there and have Robert and Tyler find them. Tyler, being a powerful witch, probably would see through the spell. I may need to get Kolby here to cast the spell. He would also be able to implant one of his people in Roberts’ camp and make sure he releases Oscar’s siblings. If this worked, then I would shelter them until he could organize his people.

“If I can get my plan to work, then I could offer your pack shelter for a little while. However, in the meantime, I will keep Vanessa at the safe house. Junior is in the hospital under heavy guard. So they are well protected. I had Oscar put in jail. An overnight stay in jail will cool his jets.

I needed to get to Vanessa. It was now four in the evening. I can not believe that the day has gone by so fast. I had Chris drive me to the safe house. Considering it is about ten miles down the road. When I arrived at the safe house, the front door was locked. I found the key on my key ring. I unlocked the door and walked in. I could smell the faint scent of Pinesol. She has been cleaning. I yelled for her.

* VANESSA’

I then heard a thump in the bedroom. I cautiously approached the room and slowly opened the door. Her scent hits me. Vanilla and peaches. It smells so

sweet. The room is dark.
