Chapter 115

Alfreds POV

I took the donuts back to the house and placed them on the table. I then wrote a note to Vanessa.

My beautiful Luna,

I had things to tend to, but I will see you this afternoon.

I ate my donut and drank a cup of coffee, then grabbed Vanessa’s medicine and put it on a napkin before leaving the house. I went to the jail. Veronica was still awaiting her punishment. Vanessa’s mother was on her deathbed. She looked horrible. But that is what she gets. I checked on the other prisoners. A few would be released in a day or two. The ones being released had been drunk in public and had caused a disturbance. They were there for being drunk in public. Nothing major. There were no prisoners who had been charged with stealing or similar crimes. Then there were a couple of prisoners there for murder. Nobody informed me of this. So I had the guard print out the reports. I folded them and put them in my pocket. I then went to the training field. I decided to start my workout with a run around the track.

I looked at my watch. It was eight o’clock. Stacey was already at the house. Nickolas had mind-linked me to tell me that Stacey was there and that he was going to go home and get some sleep. Tj, Chris, Paul, and Lucas were already there training. Those four were serious about training. Every spare moment they had, they were training. Nickolas does the same, but he was on night watch, so he went home to get some sleep. I knew he would get up in time to train before starting his shift. After running around the track for forty-five minutes, it was time to lift weights. I was warmed up and ready to continue my training. I started with the dumbbells. Then I moved through all the weights and activities. I was done lifting weights. It was time to practice hand-to-hand combat.

Chris would be my sparring partner. We all knew karate. I was a black belt, and so was Chris. We sparred for a while. He knocked me to the ground. He was on top of me, wrestling, when I looked up and saw Stacey carrying Vanessa over her shoulder, running toward us. We immediately jumped up and we ran towards them. All four of us were very concerned. Stacey handed me Vanessa. I started asking questions.

“WHAT’S GOING ON?”

Stacey handed Vanessa to me as she started to explain what had happened. Vanessa was crying in pain, and Stacey continued to describe the situation.

Someone knocked on the front door.”

“When I answered it, they wanted me to give the Luna to them. I said no.”

Then they started to fight with me,”

“Where are they now?”

‘I left them knocked out on the floor in the house.”

• Where were the guards?”

‘I don’t know.”

I then handed Vanessa to TJ.

Take her to the safe house.”

I handed Vanessa to TJ, gave him instructions, and then ran towards the house. When I arrived, I saw the guards tied to a tree outside. I wondered how Stacey hadn’t heard the commotion. The guards, who were part of my army, were clearly incapacitated. Inside the house, I found the intruders still knocked out. Chris, Lucas, and Paul caught up to me after untying the guards. Reggie, who had heard about the situation, came running to join us.

2:20 pm

Chapter 115

Is the Luna OK?”

Yes, Reggie the Luna is fine.”

Tj took her to the safe house.”

He let out a sigh of relief. Then he looked at the captain of his guards.

Jason, what happened?’

Jason explained that the guards had been on watch when a white light suddenly appeared, striking each of them in the head and knocking them out. After regaining consciousness, they saw Stacey running toward the training fields. The guards tried to escape from the ropes but couldn’t, as it felt like the ropes were enchanted. Meanwhile, the two intruders in the house began to wake up. Lucas and Chris quickly tied them up. The intruders began shouting and demanding to be released, but we refused since they had tried to kidnap Vanessa and hurt my sister. Chris threw one intruder over his shoulder, and Lucas did the same with the other. Together, we took them to the interrogation shed. Tj then arrived to let me know Vanessa was safe.

Only a handful of people knew the location of the safe house. It was almost impossible to find it. If anyone stumbled across it, they would think it was a run-down house. The vines were grown over. They covered the outside walls. The shrubs also effectively hid it. There was really no way you could find it. I then turned my attention to the men who were tied to chairs.

I want to know your names.”

In unison, they answered me.

*We are telling you shit.”

“Wrong answer.”

Paul walked over to them and hit them in the stomach. They coughed and choked on their own vomit. Paul could hit hard. I was the only one who could spar with him without getting hurt. I knew those guys were hurting. They would soon be coughing up blood.

* I will ask again what your names are.”

Between coughs, they told me their names. The one who looked younger said his name was Evan, and the other one said his name was Oscar.

Good, now we are getting somewhere.”

What are you doing here?”

I knew that their main objective was to kidnap Vanessa, but I wanted to know why. Then Evan started to talk.

We were supposed to take the Luna to Jacob.”

“We have not graduated from the witches’ academy yet.”

That’s what I suspected. Jacob was in trouble with Tyler and Robert, and his way to redeem himself was to kidnap Vanessa.

‘Where were you supposed to meet him?”

At the jewelry store.”

Just as Evan had finished his sentence, Oscar told him to shut up.

I’ll give the orders here.”

I then slapped both of them across the face.

I’m going to let you go.”

Tyler and Robert will do worse to you than I will.”

Which was true. They would do worse to them than kill them. Evan then started to beg me to put him ot death. He was crying. How old is Evan? If he is praying for death rather than to face Tyler and Robert, which told me he was scared as hell, and probably did this out of fear for his life. Oscar, on the other hand, seemed to have a chip on his shoulder.

Paul, take Oscar out of here.”

Paul then untied him from the chair and took him out of the shed. I then turned to Evan, who was sobbing at this point.

Evan, how old are you?”

‘I’m seventeen.”

That stopped me in my tracks. He was still a child. What kind of monster would send a child to his death?
