Chapter 114
Alfreds POV
0:91
After getting Vanessa settled in bed, I quietly sneaked out. When I left the house, I saw Chris waiting for me in the car. I had changed into a black shirt and a pair of black pants to blend in with the night. We drove to the jewelry store, but it was closed. Some of my warriors were stationed around town to keep a lookout. Lucas, one of my warriors who excelled at tailing people without being seen, approached our car to provide us with information.
Jacob, the jewelry store owner, lives around the block.”
Very good, get in and show me that exact house.”
Lucas got into the car and directed us to the owner’s home. Once there, Chris and I got out, carefully picked the front door lock, and quietly entered the house. We checked each room to confirm that only the owner was inside; I could hear his snores coming from the bedroom. We sneaked in, wrapped him tightly in nearby blankets to prevent escape, and dragged him out to the car. Although he struggled and shouted, no one intervened-no one was outside at that hour. I struck him on the head to silence him, and he fell unconscious. We drove to the warehouse, removed his limp body from the car, and Chris tied him securely to a chair. The warriors who accompanied me stood in a circle around him, while others kept watch outside for any surprises.
I splashed cold water on his face, waking him. He struggled, but Chris’s knots held tight.
‘Jacob, you are not getting out of those restraints.”
“Why did you act shocked when I said my wife and son survived the bombing?”
Go to hell.”
That was the incorrect response. I then slapped him in the face.
I will not ask again.”
“Now answer the question.
For a mere human, he was acting tough.
‘Jacob, please answer the question.”
“You filthy werewolf, I will not.”
After my second slap, I needed a moment to calm myself and reconsider my approach, sensing that something was motivating Jacob to withstand the pain. I walked to the back of the warehouse to collect my thoughts and strategize. Once I felt ready, I returned to face him again, determined to find a new way to get answers.
‘Jacob, we have been doing business for years.”
Why are you being this way?”
‘Fuck off.”
I did not want to have to do this. I shifted my hand into a werewolf hand and elongated my claws. I then very slowly dragged one across-his chest. Pressing hard enough to cut him, but not hard enough to be fatal. He screamed in pain. I stopped cutting him. He was breathing hard. He was also bleeding from where I cut him. I took out a can of salt and rubbed it into his wound. Again, he screamed out in pain. I then stabbed him in the leg with a knife. He wailed
this time.
Have you had enough?”

You are a son of a bitch.”

Jacob, answer me.”
“Why are you surprised that my wife and son survived?”
I yanked the knife out of his leg, causing him to scream again. I signaled for our medic to stay alert; he would tend to Jacob’s wounds just enough to ensure he could reach the hospital alive. To intensify my interrogation, I stabbed Jacob’s other leg.
Stop, stop, I will tell you.”
He then explained that Tyler and Robert had sent some of their people to enlist his help with building a bomb. However, he had no interest in it. They then threatened to kill his wife and daughter. That would explain why they were no longer at home. I understood the need to protect his family. He then said he helped them build the bomb. He was sure that it would kill everyone in the house. But it did not. It almost killed Vanessa, but she managed to pull through. I jerked the knife out of his leg, and he screamed in pain.
* Paul patched him up and took him to the hospital, dropped him off at the emergency doors.”
Jacob, I will not forget this.”
* Keep your family where they are.”
I will be back to finish what I started, and you still owe me money.”
After Paul dragged Jacob to the car and they drove away to the hospital, I took a moment to assess the situation. We had arranged for another vehicle for our own escape. I then washed the blood from my hands and joined Chris, who drove us back to the house.
‘I need you to stock the fridge at the safe house.”
‘I have a feeling that we are going to need it.”
* Yes, Alpha.”
We drove back to the house. I quietly opened the front door. The only one that was up was Nickolas. The guard who I had waited inside to protect Vanessa while she slept. It was four in the morning. I thanked him, and he went back outside. I had to get up again in a couple of hours. I took a quick shower to wash the blood off me. After my shower, I put on a pair of shorts. Then I took the clothes I was wearing to the washing machine. I started it and then went back to bed. Vanessa was sleeping on her right side with her back towards the door. I crawled into bed with her and cuddled up with her. I draped my arm over her and pulled her close. I then went to sleep. My alarm went off at six o’clock. I got up as quietly as I could. I then got dressed in workout clothes and went to my office. I needed to check on a few things before I went to the training field.
To start my day, I decided to get breakfast at the donut shop, which was within walking distance from home. As I approached, the tempting aroma of fresh donuts filled the air. I realized I was the first customer when I stepped inside and saw George busy in the kitchen, making donuts.
‘Good morning, George.”
‘Good morning, Alpha.”
What can I get for you?”
‘I’m getting breakfast for me and the Luna.’
How is the Luna doing?”
* She is improving every day.”
“How’s the baby?”
He asked that question almost hesitantly.

You don’t have to be cautious when asking about the baby. He is doing great.
I’m so pleased to hear that.”
He said that with a smile on his face. He was happy that the baby was doing well. That told me that he wanted the Luna and baby to survive. That made me happy
Can I get a dozen glazed donuts?’
.
Yes, alpha,
How much do I owe you?
“That will be six dollars.”
Thank you, George.”
He returned around, opened the donut case, and put a dozen donuts in a box. He then handed me an extra one,
One for the road.”
When I tried to pay for it, he refused.
