The Alpha Of The Shadow Pack And His Mute Luna (by Beatrice Putnam) novel Chapter 130

Chapter 130

Vanessa POV

I waited at the house with Chris, who occasionally offered a hug. The only person I wanted to touch me, though, was Alfred. Chris was sweet, but not my mate. I didn’t want to smell like another man or cause problems between them. I offered Chris a pair of Alfred’s shorts; he declined, keeping his towel wrapped around him. He tried to be helpful, and we engaged in small talk, but it was awkward because he was wearing a towel. I got us drinks, mainly to avoid seeing him like that. As soon as I reached the house, I put on a nightgown. Hours seemed to pass before Alfred finally walked in, naked and covered in

blood.

I ran to Alfred and hugged him so tightly I could have squeezed the life out of him. When I let go, I saw his wounds begin to heal. I was now covered in blood. He said:

Let’s go shower.

I was fine with showering. Afterward, we lay on the bed as the sun roseawake after a long night. Before the attack, we’d enjoyed ourselves. Suddenly, I realized the attackers might have been outside while we made love, which embarrassed me. Questions flooded my mind: Did they see me? Hear us? My head ached. Alfred soon fell asleep. After a while, I drifted off too. I woke in the afternoon, sticky and sweaty, and went to rinse off. Alfred wasn’t in the bedroom; I heard his voice in the living room.

I assumed there were warriors, Chris, and Stacy, whose voices sounded hysterical. I had no idea what was wrong or how much sleep anyone got. Then I heard Mac’s voice from the kitchen.

You people need to keep it down. The Luna is sleeping.

However, I wasn’t sleeping. I woke up sweaty and didn’t know whyperhaps from the heat of the window or fireplace. I took my clothes to the bathroom, debating whether to go to the living room. Worried I’d walk into an argument, I gathered my courage and left the bathroom. They greeted me with warm smiles. When I found out they were talking about the attack, I walked over to Alfred and kissed him.

Good morning, my love.

Go keep Mac company in the kitchen. I will be there shortly.

I went to the kitchen, knowing it was afternoon, not morning, uncertain what to say. Alfred was busy in the living room. Following his instruction, I went into the kitchen, happy to see Mac, and gave him a hug.

Afternoon, Luna.

Are you hungry?

Yes, I’m starving.

I sat at the bar while Mac made me coffee, which I’ve grown to enjoy. He added sugar and milk. Since Alfred found me, I’ve had late nights, early mornings, extensive travel, and numerous intimate experiences. My life has undergone a complete transformation, and I’m grateful to the moon goddess for showing Alfred a way to save me.I sipped my coffee as Alfred entered the kitchen, kissed my head, and I asked:

What did you find out about last night?

Not much.

I have some interrogations to do today.

I hated that word. Interrogations were never pretty. They usually resulted in someone dying or being severely injured. Alfred was rumored to be cruel during that time, but I didn’t know if that was true. I didn’t want to find out. I would stay out of it.

* While I’m interrogating the prisoners and handling those matters.

You will be training with Stacey.

Chapter 130

That was exactly what I wanted. Alfred’s eyes were dark with emotion; I could sense his anger and discomfort. I didn’t like this feeling. Even so, I wouldn’t challenge or get upset with him. Stacey’s crying filled the living room. What was wrong with her?

Alfred, why is Stacey crying?

She disobeyed an order, and she got yelled at.

It infuriated me that he thought making Stacey cry could ever be justified. My anger boiled overunstoppable, scorching. I couldn’t hold it back any longer.

YOU MAY BE THE ALPHA, BUT THAT DOES NOT GIVE YOU THE RIGHT TO MAKE A GIRL CRY.

Listen here, little one, you may be my mate, but you do not have the right to tell me how to do my job.

Despite how calm Alfred appeared, the darkness in his eyes scared me, but I refused to back down. Determined to stand my ground, I got up, walked over to him, and slapped him as hard as I could. Then I left the room, went into the living room, and found Stacey to comfort her.

What happened that he yelled at you?

She explained she’d left her post to use the bathroom before relief arrived, allowing the intruders in. I understood his frustration, but nature cannot be helped. Still, she put people in danger. I was angry at himeveryone makes mistakes. Stacey was about my age, maybe a bit older. I held her while she cried. Eventually, she calmed down. I was going to get up and go confront Alfred. However, Stacey stopped me. I gently patted her hand and told her that it would be OK. I got up and went back to the kitchen. Alfred thought that I had come to apologize. I walked past him and got a glass of water. Then I went and made myself another cup of coffee. He came up behind me and wrapped his arms around me. I used my butt to push him away after making myself a cup of coffee. I then walked out of the kitchen with my coffee and the cup of water.

Stacey was still sitting on the couch. I handed her the cup of water. Alfred was standing at the kitchen door, looking dumbfounded. I knew he was upset. However, I did not care. He may be used to yelling at the girls in his army, but he needs to understand they are girls. He threw his hands up, grabbed his jacket, and walked past me. Alfred stormed out, muttering about dealing with me later. I looked forward to what he would do to deal with me. If he thought for one minute I was going to make it easy for him, he had another thing coming. I knew he would not hurt me. I also learned that he was concerned. Stacey and I sat on the couch for a while. I finished my cup of coffee, and she completed her water.

I then went into the bedroom and changed into workout clothes. I would agree with him about learning to defend myself. I knew right now was not the time to be taught easily or slowly. We were being attacked left and right. I needed to learn how to fight in human form and wolf form. I was out of shape, but that would be remedied by learning how to fight and similar skills. I made sure to wrap my legs with the ace bandages that the doctor said I needed to use during training sessions. Stacey was waiting for me on the front porch. Movers were moving our stuff back to Alpha’s house.
