Vanessa POV

I could hear the sad tone in his voice when he apologized. I knew he was upset about

accidentally hurting me. I reached down and touched his thigh to let him know that I

knew he did not mean to hurt me. It was an accident. He then continued to wash my back.

After putting soap on my back, he gently splashed water to remove the soap.

Little one, lie back and rinse your back. It will feel good.”

At first, I did not want to, but after thinking about it, I decided it would be OK. He was behind me, and I slowly lay down in the water. He was sitting on the ledge, and I had my head in his arms. I slowly let my feet float up to the surface. Soon I was floating in the water. It felt amazing to let myself relax and enjoy the hot water. Surprisingly, the water was still the same temperature as when we first started to bathe. I had my eyes closed when the door of the bathhouse opened. I jumped, and my head went under the water.

Alfred grabbed me before any water could enter my mouth or nose. I was surprised that

he was that fast. I heard him growl. When I saw why he was growling, I understood. There

was another male in the bathhouse.

“What the hell do you think you are doing?”

Forgive me, Alpha. I did not realize that you and Luna were here.”

Get the fuck out of here.”

The man ran out of the bathhouse. He would have had his tail tucked in between his legs if he had been in wolf form. He also would have been yelping.

“I’m sorry, baby.”

He saw the look of terror on my face. His growling had scared me. I knew he was not mad

at me. But I was still not used to not getting in trouble for everything. We finished our bath, and he left me in the tub. When he got out, he got himself a towel. He then helped me get out of the tub, wrapped a towel around me, and one around my hair. He then tried to pick me up. I shook my head no. I wanted to walk.

“Alright, babe, but promise me you will be careful.”

I nodded my head yes. He then smiled and put his hand on the small part of my back. I was glad that he did. I took a couple of steps and pain so intense ripped through my body. Then I felt hot blood dripping down my leg. A wound had reopened. He quickly picked me up and ran into the house and the bedroom. He laid me on my side.

Baby, I’m so sorry I should have thought twice about letting you walk.”

Even though I just got out of a hot bath, I was freezing. It has to be the blood loss. I started to see dots, and I heard the bedroom door open. Then there was a man standing behind me. I recognized the voice as Doctor Moser. I let him examine me, and he stopped the bleeding. He then put an IV in my arm and started to give me fluids and blood. I could hear them whispering. I thought I heard something about being poisoned.

My vision was starting to go black, and I fell into a deep sleep. I dreamed I knew it because I was in a field.

“Where am I?”

Hello Vanessa, it is Sasha.”

“When you are healed, you need to shift so I can become stronger and help heal you.”

I was excited to let her out. When I woke up again, I was in bed and the IV was still in my

arm. I felt stronger.

“Baby, are you OK?”

I nodded my head yes. I could see the concern in his eyes. It looked like he had been crying. Could a ruthless alpha such as himself cry? So far, the rumors I have been told my whole life have been false. He was supposed to have killed his first mate. But was that just a rumor? I had to know. My dry–erase board was by me. I picked it up and wrote.

“Please forgive me, but did you kill your first mate?”

There is nothing to forgive and, no, I did not. You are my one and only mate.”

My mouth dropped open, and I looked like a deer caught in headlights. Because if what he

was saying was true, then I’m his first mate. We all have two mates: our first and true mate, then our second chance mate if we get rejected or if they get killed. The moon

goddess was generous like that. But most wolves die when their true mates get killed. They can not stand the heartbreak. I have seen some of the strongest wolves die.

I was still lying on my side. I knew if I tried to turn over to lie on my back. It would hurt like hell. Instead, I just lay there. He held my hand, and again I started to cry. Why is he being so nice to me? Why does he have to be so kind? It makes it hard to be scared of him. He looked into my eyes, and I could see he was happy. I was happy as well. I was crying not because I was sad, but because I was very happy. I was almost afraid that this was a beautiful dream that would end. But I knew this was reality from the sparks I felt all over my body.

When we were in the bath, I was completely naked in front of him. I knew if I wanted to touch him, he would try to touch me. I was so lost in my thoughts that I didn’t notice that he had crawled into the bed with me. I felt his arm go around me. I was still naked. I could feel his cock press against my backside even though he had clothes on. I could still feel it. But he was making sure not to touch me in any way that made me uncomfortable. He was gently stroking my stomach with his finger. I instinctively snuggled closer to him.

He gently pulled me closer to him, kissing the back of my head and whispering into my

ear.

“You’re mine now and forever.”

I could not wait until I got my voice back because I wanted to say the same thing to him. I have never felt this safe in my life. If I have been this safe, I don’t remember it. I don’t think I have been this safe.
