Vanessa POV

After making love all night, we finally fell asleep. We weren’t sleeping for long before someone was knocking on our door. Alfred got out of bed and wrapped a towel around his bottom. He then walked to the door. It was Chris Alfred’s best friend and second in command.

”

Forgive me, Alpha and Luna.”

The queen is looking for you.”

“Alright, give us a minute to get dressed, and we will be there.”

He then shut the door, shrugged his shoulders, and smiled. I knew that his parents were going to be here for a while. I knew that they meant well, but they were going to get on my nerves. It was his birthday.

“Little one that looks on your face tells me you are unhappy.”

“I’m not happy babe. I know it’s your birthday, but your parents must give you your time.”

“Little one, it is alright.”

I was not happy that he was being woken up and our time was being interrupted, but I will let this one slide. I will talk to the queen later. I know she is his mother. We still have the mating ceremony to deal with. I want to get it over with. I’m going to have Alfred help me shift again, and we are going to do it the right way this time. I needed to get her stronger, and I needed to get stronger.

Babe, after breakfast, can you and I go to the pond, and I shift again.”

Little one, we can, but we need to talk before that.”

“Alright.”

We then kissed and got ready for breakfast. When we walked into the dining hall, the lights were off. Alfred was annoyed that the lights were off, and when he turned them on, everyone jumped out and yelled, surprised. Both of us were surprised. In the middle of the

table, there was a giant cake. On top of the cake was a man’s and a woman’s figurine. It was a four–layer cake. Then, the one I had Mac make for him was sitting next to it. It was a three–layer cake, and he incorporated my ideas. His mother walked over to me and pulled me to the side.

Honey, that cake is beautiful. I will have it put away for you and him this evening.”

That is so sweet, thank you.”

“You’re welcome, sweetheart. Also, later, I want to talk to you about the mating ceremony.”

“Yes, ma’am.”

I then walked back over to Alfred. He had a massive piece of cake and some coffee. He had a smile on his face, and he was talking to Stacey and Chris. When I walked over to them, they got quiet, which made me wonder what was wrong. They bowed their heads, and as they were walking off, they said.

“Luna”

I nodded my head at them.

What was that about?”

“I told them what you wanted to do.”

“I told them to be present just in case, and the doctor was going to be there.”

“That’s fine.”

We then went back to enjoying the party. After eating some cake, we then ate breakfast. I was glad it was simply eggs, bacon, and sausage. I was pleased that there wasn’t a bunch more sweet stuff. I thought I would never say I had too many sweets, but I had enough. I drank some water, and then Alfred and I walked. We walked around for a while. It was refreshing. I was tired after walking. It was also hard to keep up with him because he had such long legs. I was out of breath.

Are you OK, little one?”

“Yes, I am.”

“When you can keep up with me and not be out of breath, we will move to jogging.”

I never thought that he would use this as a way to start training. I was not expecting it. But it was nice. I was expecting him to start with hard stuff. But he wanted me to be able to keep up with him while walking. That should be easy to do. It would take a while to do it. If my theory is correct, shifting could strengthen myself and my wolf, then it would help. I knew that a war was coming. I also understand that the Winterlands Pack was ruthless, and they killed their pack members, for example. I needed to get stronger to help my new pack.

I did not care what my pack did anymore. I knew that Alfred had his pack and the royal pack behind him. We went back to the house, and I grabbed some clothes. I wanted to shift. Alfred grabbed some towels, and we went to the pond. Chris and Stacey were already there, and so was Doctor Moser.

Vanessa, I want to check your vitals before you shift.”

“I will then recheck your vitals.”

He was familiar with human and werewolf anatomy, and he would make sure everything was OK. Alfred and I stood at the edge of the pond. I relaxed and let Sasha take over. But before she took over, she spoke up.

Vanessa, it will hurt, and I will protect you. Let me take over completely.”

Yes, Sasha.”

Then, I could feel my bones breaking and merging into my wolf. It was so painful, but after it was all done, I could see through her eyes. The pond and Alfred’s face. His look scared me.

“Vanessa, it’s OK.”

Then I could hear her talking to Alfred.”

The prophecy is true. I am the white wolf.”

I have been keeping Vanessa alive.”

Then, I was back in human form. I was in the middle of the pond, and this time, it did not feel like I was on fire. Instead, I felt great. Alfred had me in his arms, and Doctor Moser was checking my vitals.

How are you feeling baby.”

I feel good.”

That’s great, baby.”

I was so tired that I needed a nap. Alfred wrapped a towel around me and carried me back to the house. His mother ran to him and asked what had happened. He explained to her that I shifted and took a lot out of me. She instantly understood and started to order people around to get food ready and to get the herbal drink, whatever that was. This is the treatment that you are supposed to get. We would have celebrations for the one that shifted, but I was never allowed to participate.

“Little one, are you OK? You’re too quiet.”

“I’m fine, baby.”

“That’s good. Let’s get you into a shower and get you something to eat, and we can have our personal celebration later this evening.”

We then walked into the bathroom. He started the shower, undressed, and got in the

shower with me.
