The Alpha Of The Shadow Pack And His Mute Luna (by Beatrice Putnam) novel Chapter 78

Chapter 78

Alfreds POV

82

After I left Vanessa in the tower, I went and had my warriors form a battle line. They were surrounding the tower. She was going to be protected. I was not going to let her get hurt. I knew she could handle herself with the goddess’s help, but she was still learning to control her powers. She was a pain in the ass. I will talk to her when I get done here. My warriors were lined up, and I sounded the charge to get them to march. I was in the

middle of handling one of Robert’s warriors when there was a bright light coming from the tower. Damn it, she is using her powers. I have finished dealing with these wolves, and then I will get to her.

When I do, I’m going to give that woman a piece of my mind. She can not keep putting herself in danger like this. I lost track of the wolves I was fighting. One had me pinned to the ground. His claws were on my neck. I could feel them digging into my flesh. The weight of his paw on my neck was suffocating. I then rolled to my left and shook him off. I then dug my teeth into his neck and ripped out his throat. Just as his blood was squirting everywhere, another wolf attacked me. He landed on my back and left deep claw marks. I shook him off. Then, as I walked over him, I stomped my paw through his heart and killed him instantly.

Sasha was on the stairs to the tower. She was glowing. Her eyes were a deep blue, and an electricity seemed to emanate from every part of her body. Then she howled, and time stood still. Everyone stopped in their tracks. Robert and I both slowed down. It was a struggle to walk, but I was still managing. Robert was having the same issues. Sasha cut back on her power enough that it allowed me to get to her, and I was able to get two other guards close enough. She then stopped her power. Robert was caught. I shifted back to human form, and Robert was on his knees in front of Vanessa.

I did not know when she shifted back to human form, but she did. I picked Robert up by the neck and held his throat, and cut off his air supply. I was enjoying the shades of purple and blue he was turning. I then handed him to the two warriors who were behind me. I took him to the jail and to the cell that was enchanted. I made sure that Vanessa would stay where she was. I had Stacey and TJ hold her where she was. I followed the guards and ensured he was secure before returning to Vanessa.

My Sweet Vanessa, you are in trouble.

I grabbed her hand and began walking back to the house. The pace I was walking, I knew she was struggling to keep up with me. But I was pissed off at her. I made sure that things were fixed before we got back. She did not complain at all. Instead, she just let me practically drag her back to the house. When we got back to the house, I sat her on the couch and went to the kitchen. I needed a moment to collect my thoughts. I was so upset with her. She needs to stop putting herself in danger. I did not care if she had goddess powers or not. She is my mate, and I don’t know what I would do if something bad happened to her.

She got up off the couch and walked over to me. I just sat there and waited. When she began to speak, I put my finger on her lips and silenced her. I then explained to her that she was my world and I would never forgive myself if anything happened to her. After that, I pulled her into my lap, wrapped my arms around her, and held her very tightly. I placed my head next to her mark. I then inhaled her scent. It was comforting. We sat there like that for a while. I then went and checked on Chris, my beta. He was doing well. He was healing and would be back in action in no time.

I could let Vanessa know that she would be happy. She was concerned about his health. She was sitting on the couch again. She had lit a fire. She was sitting there, and she looked beautiful. She always looked beautiful. But we could both use a shower. I walked over to her. I then held out my hand, and she took it. I led her into our bedroom and straight into the bathroom. She sat down on the shower chair and waited for me to prepare the water. She was acting as if she were numb since today. I don’t blame her. It had been a long day, and dawn was approaching once more.

We both needed to rest and regroup. It will do us both good. We got in the shower, and she leaned against me while I had my back to the shower. I held her and let the hot water run over her body. She was almost purring. I knew that Leon was enjoying her scent. So was i. I thought of all the possible outcomes from the day. I was so relieved that she was safe. I was still upset about her putting herself in danger. I still can’t believe that the woman in my arms is not the same woman I brought here not even a month ago. She was so weak and fragile. Now she is getting stronger and more confident. I fall in love with her more and more every day.

I still needed to deal with Robert, who was in jail. But right now I need my mate. I needed her scent, the feel of her body next to mine. We finished our shower. She sat down on the shower chair, wrapped a towel around her, and fell asleep. I carried her to bed. I laid her gently on the bed and covered her up. It was early. The sun had broken over the horizon. I summoned Stacey.

Are you OK?

Yes, Alfred, I am fine.”

OK, go get some rest. Give me a report this evening.

She then left. She had a few minor scrapes, but she seemed alright. She was tired as well. She had better be going to bed. We have all been up for over twentyfour hours. As I was approaching the phone to call the hospital to check on Chris. Doctor Moser knocked on

the door.

Enter.

I was going to call you.

What’s your report?

He gave me his report on the injured and killed. Chris was fine and was on his way home. He then examined Vanessa. He said she was just exhausted and needed rest. That is good. The doctor left the room, and I then lay down next to her.
