My morning starts by being rudely woken up by my evil little sister. As she jumps on the bed and me… mostly me… I wince as my wounds are still sore. “Hurry up!” Gracie orders me like I’m nothing more than a servant and frowns down at me. “No going out today. You must play with Gracie!”
I groan and try to get up without pushing her away. Nothing about her is cute and sweet. “I have to train,” I say and get out of bed. “I also have work to do so no, I can’t play with you at all.” It isn’t easy being the son of the Alpha after all. “You are friends with everyone so… just play with them already.”
Gracie pouts and jabs me in the side hard. It takes all I have not to yelp in pain. Reason number a hundred and ten as to why Gracie isn’t an angel like everyone believes her to be: she’s way too strong for a two–year.. and smart too.
“You never listen to Gracie!” Gracie snaps and stomps her foot on the ground. She reminds me of her mother so much. So childish and whiny. Too bad
she has to be my mother too. “You meanie!” I see the fake tears forming as she runs out.
I let out a tired sigh. When will this all end? Can’t I have one peaceful day? My desire to be lost in dreamland with Ebony comes on strong. I remember her pretty face clearly. However this time, her face was twisted into a look of horror as I showed her my wounds. As for what we discussed, I don’t know. I can never remember when I wake up. Like a normal dream, it always disappears.
I shake the thought away as I get dressed. Because Gracie ran away with tears in her eyes, I’m sure I’ll be getting an ear full from father if not a slap from mother. Anything for their precious baby girl! Who cares if they beat and torture the heir of the pack, right?
After brushing my teeth and washing my face, I slowly make my way downstairs. The feeling of dread makes me sigh again but before I can get into the dining room, I bump into someone. I step back and tense out of instinct. “I’m sorry!” I say quickly as I brace myself.
However, all I hear is a familiar chuckle. “No be scared, child. It’s only me.” I look up and meet a pair of dark red eyes. Our newest addition to the pack that mother hired stands there with an amused look on his face. His name is Magnus and he always gets me an uneasy feeling. “How are you feeling
today, hmm?”
I shift around as Magnus observes me. I always feel like a small bug being experimented on by him. He’s not mean or anything like that but he does make me uncomfortable. “I’m alright… just preparing myself for the day I guess. Hoping for a good one.” I divert my eyes not meeting his again.
Magnus chuckles softly and places a hand on top of my head, a notion that makes my skin crawl. “I sure hope so as well. You look like you need one.” He takes his hand back and brushes his red hair to the side.
“Y–yeah… thanks, Magnus,” I mutter and keep my eyes to the side. Every time I see him, I’m only reminded of the red blood of my wounds. I hate the color red… I much prefer a purple hue like Ebony has in the moonlight..
Before Magnus can leave, I wince at the sound of Gracie’s high–pitched squeal. “Maggie!” She launches herself at him and laughs as she hugs him. “Gracie is good to see you!” She beams happily.
As my ears ring, I watch as the pair talk happily with each other. Yet another person Gracie has wrapped around her fingers with ease. It’s always the same thing. Doesn’t she ever get tired of having all the attention on herself? Isn’t it exhausting? I already know that answer since she’s so happy right
now.
“There you are!” I tense and turn around just in time to get slapped hard. After I fall on my rump with a loud thump, I place a hand on my cheek and look. up to see mother standing over me her blue eyes wild and enraged. “How dare you make your baby sister cry! You ought to be ashamed of yourself!”
So predictable. I feel wetness on my cheek so she must have used her nails again. I carefully stand up and look away. “I didn’t make her cry. I only…” Smack! Mother slaps my other cheek now. I should’ve just kept my mouth shut. No one ever listens to me to my explanation.
“Don’t talk back to me!” Mother growls and glares down at me. “Take your plate and eat outside! I don’t even want to look at you! Such a spoiled thing you are!” She goes over to Magnús to check on Gracie.
I stand there numbly as I watch the three. Gracie doesn’t look like she’s let out any tears out what so ever. Why must everything be so unfair to me? Gracie catches my eye and smirks at me. ‘Big brother is a loser‘ is what she mouths.
I clench my fists. I hate her. I hate her so much that I want to scream, I have so much pent up rage that i feel like I could explodel What would they do if I
