Chapter 82
Xander
Seeing Magnus again after so long makes my blood boil. He looks at me with a smirk like I’m nothing more than an entertaining player in some twisted game he’s playing. “That agreement was with his grandfather, Damien, and later on, your father, Gregory. I never renewed it with you, Xander,” He speaks in a silky purr as always. Those words hit harder than I’d like to admit.
I clench my fists and watch as everyone panics after the news of war. I don’t even care as I can only glare at Magnus while his red eyes light up with joy and laughter. As he wraps an arm around Dahlia, I know he’s found what he’s always wanted.
“Magnus‘ presence does not sway my decision either,” I growl my eyes not leaving my former friend’s face. These next words are some I never thought I’d say. “Mark my words… you’ve made an enemy and lost a friend, bastard.” I turn away to face Aiden and Daisy. “Let’s move on and prepare ourselves.”
I walk on ahead my fists still clenched as my mind races. I knew what Magnus desired better than anyone even my father but I never knew he’d go so far. as to betray us this way. He never told me how the agreement went so I assumed it was still in place. Boy was I wrong!
“Xander, what’s going on?” Aiden asks as he and Daisy follow me. “Xander!” He picks up the speed and places a hand on my shoulder. “Dude… are you alright? I’ve never seen you like this better.”
I shake his hand away and frown at them. The worried looks on their faces make me feel guilty and I take a deep breath to calm myself down. “I’m fine… just angry and saddened that he would do something like this,” I mutter as I keep walking.
“How long have you known that guy?” Daisy asks. “He gives me the creeps… it was like he wanted to lure me in but it wasn’t doing him any good. Same with the little girl honestly.” She shudders and holds herself.
“I felt that too.” Aiden agrees. “However, it was just from the little girl. I focused on Daisy’s scent and stayed grounded… if that makes sense. You said that they were demons?”
1 sigh and nod. “That’s correct. Magnus is a half–demon half–warlock that has been around since I was born. I can only assume he’s behind Skylar’s mixed–up memories” I close my eyes. “He has been by my side for as long as I can remember… he was my best friend at the time as well.” Thinking back on it now… just how many red flags did I ignore?
~Xander: Age 5~
Life as the Alpha’s heir is wonderful! I get to learn so many new things and hang out with Father all day long! If he’s too busy, then I can either help Mother out with chores or I can play with the most fun person ever!
As I make my way to Father’s office, I hold hands with that said person: Magnus the magic demon! I swing our hands and he chuckles. “Your father said that he wished to speak with you but I can tell you’re already so excited to see him huh?” I grin and nod making him chuckle again.
Magnus knocks on the door while I hop up and down feeling super hyper. He looks down at me amused then calls out, “Gregory, I have brought young
Xander as you asked!”
“Enter!” Father answers and Magnus opens the door. The moment I see Father, I take off to his side and hug one of his legs. He smiles and pats the top of my head. “There you are, my pup.” He carefully picks me up.
I giggle and hug him happily. “Father!” I nuzzle his chest and enjoy his warmth. He always makes me feel loved just like Mother and I can never get enough of it. Everyone says I’m spoiled rotten which I think is a good thing!
Father pats my back. “Hello there, Xander. I do wish to speak with you about some things as I think you’re old enough to under now. It’s about our dear old friend, Magnus.”
I look up and tilt my head. “What about Mags?” I ask curiously. “He’s fun to play with!” I beam happily making Father smile warmly. “And Father’s best friend besides Beta Will right?”
Father smiles and nods. “That’s correct.” He stands up and clears his throat. “As you know, my son, this is Magnus.” He starts while holding me in his

arms. “He has been with our family for many generations as someone who helps protect our pack and give us wisdom as need be as per our severa
Magnus smiles and dips his head. As always, his long red hair is up in a ponytail and he wears a nice suit that reminds me of servant clothes I see in my storybooks. “It’s always a pleasure to serve the Royal Alphas.” He looks up his red eyes shining with amusement.
I giggle and wave. “Hi there, Mags.” I look up at Father with wide eyes. I look just like Mother with my black hair and green eyes while Father has dirty blonde hair and sharp brown eyes. I sometimes wish I could look more like him.
“When you become Alpha in my stead, our agreement will be passed down to you, my son.” Father continued. “Until then, he will be your prefector: He sets me down. “Now go and ask as many questions as you wish. You need to have a basic understanding of this agreement after all.”
