The Alpha's Unwanted Omega Mate novel Chapter 83

~Xander: Age 16-

After my Alpha lessons, I walk out into the woods and spot a head of bloodred hair in the distance. I tilt my head and follow close behind him curiously Magnus has been distant lately that usual fire in his eyes dimming as the years go on. He always claims to be alright but I highly doubt that’s the case.

As I try and silently follow him unseen, Magnus stops suddenly and chuckles. You still need to work on your tracking skills. My face flushes from embarrassment. That’s fine though. I could use someone to talk to.He turns and looks towards my direction.

The abilities of a demon warlock never cease to amaze me. I clear my throat and step out of the thick trees. I figured that after seeing you walk off alone. He sticks close to Father’s side, even more so after Mother passed away six years ago from a sudden illness. I’m all ears, Mags.

Magnus chuckles. Oh you and that nicknamehe shakes his head and motions for me to follow. I have a lot on my mind lately. I hope I don’t end up boring you with the details. He hums softly. Especially when you’re just a teenager looking forward to Alpha and mate stuff.

As we walk through the woods, Magnus keeps his usual smile on his face but I notice many things that are off about him. His hair seems flatter than usual and his eyes have lost much of their playful light. His skin is paler toohas he lost some weight too?

Worry comes over me as I flash back to what Mother looked like before she died. You’renot sick, right?I ask carefully. I never want to lose someone that way ever again.

Magnus looks at me and tilts his head. Hmmno I’m not sick, pup. At least not in the same way your mother was.He looks forward again. I just feel like I’m not going anyway. My hunger continues to grow and there’s nothing here that can help me satisfy it. Not while I’m bound here.

I watch him and see a longing look on his face. What is he wishing to go for? What do you mean?Magnus has always been here so I’ve never seen a future without him around. He’s been protecting our pack for so many generations so why would he stop now?

Magnus chuckles softly. It’s much like how you long to meet to meet your mate. I long to have someone like that for myself that will keep me fed.I make an odd face which he sees and winks. “It’s the type of demon I am, pup. It’s not something I can control but I do need to satisfy that part of me or I’ll starve and waste away.

That still leaves me with a gross feeling but I listen anyway. I’ve never heard of such a demon but I’ll take your word for it. Do demons have mates like werewolves do? Maybe you just need to find that special person?

Magnus chuckles. Oh, you’re so naive, pup.He looks back at me while I scowl. We don’t have mates but we have a certain trait we prefer. For example, my father enjoyed women who were strongwilled and harder to tame. He found a thrill in the chase I suppose. His father preferred innocence over anything.

What an odd thing to doit’s something I can’t fully comprehend but then I know one day I’ll meet my mate. So umwhat exactly do you prefer?I don’t know if I even want to know the answer as he’s practically a second father to me but I ask anyway. I want to better understand him.

Magnus ponders my question for a long time. We come to a stop at the river and look at our reflections in the water. Hmminsecurities I suppose. He finally says. The more insecure and weak the woman, the better because I can control the situation and have them wrapped around my fingers.

The tone of his voice makes my skin crawl. Why does he have to say it like that in an odd way? The hunger and desirethe discomfort I feel is horrible. WellI hope you don’t say it to their faceWhat else can I say?

Magnus looks at me and raises an amused eyebrow. Of course not. You have to kiss up to them so that they’re a decent meal.I make another face and he chuckles. It’s hard for you to understand. That’s perfectly fair as you’re not the same as me.He shakes his head and looks up at the sky. He looks so

untouchable.

It just sounds like you only wish to use them and will never love themthat’s all,I say and Magnus only chuckles as if amused. I fear to think of how many hearts you’ve broken over the years. With a face like that, I’m sure more than a dozen.I joke.

Magnus’s lips curl into a small smirk. You have no idea, little pup.He purrs. Think of it this waymy hunger is like that of a vampire. They can’t live without blood and I can’t live with that energy they give off.He chuckles softly. Once I find that sweet little flower I’m longing forwell, I just hope they don’t get s*ck’d too dry.

I swallow hard as my stomach twists. There’s no way he thinks that wayhe’s just making light of whatever situation he finds himself in, look down at my reflection again and see how pale my face isas if I’m telling myself I can’t believe it either way.

~Present~

So what are we dealing with here?Daisy asks taking me out of my thoughts. We’re nearly back to Royal Pack. Magnus seems to be trouble and the way everyone was acting seems off too. What sort of demon is this guy anyway?

I take a deep breath. Based on what I’ve read, I believe he’s an incubus demon with an allure ability.” I start. He can control it and only use it on what he deems is his preyso to speak. Because of how Tristian was acting towards his daughter, she has it too but can’t control it.
