I smile at her as I’ve prepared this so far in advance. “I was slowly wasting away and losing my powers. If something didn’t change soon, I would have been no use to anyone. Therefore, I didn’t continue the pact with Xander so that I would be free.” I play with Dahlia’s blonde hair. “In the type of damess that needs to feed off of a certain energy… and for that, I needed to find another that would satisfy that carving. That’s all I needed to say to make Dahlia perk up and let out a gasp. “I’m your mate?” She stares at me with wide eyes. “You’re my second chance mate?? She starts to tremble with excitement. “I can get rid of the pathetic Tristian once and for all!”

Dahlia tenses suddenly and looks up. “That’s right! I wanted to ask you about that brat… how did he start slipping and remembering things? You told me he wouldn’t remember anything until he found his mate at eighteen!”

I tilt my head. “No, I only said that he’d remember when he finds his mate. As he is the son of a Luna marked by your Moon Goddess, he can find his mate at any time.” Dahlia’s eyes flash in rage. “He was always your twin’s son, little flower. You and I both knew that… especially since the child you gave birth to was a girl.”

Pain flashes in her eyes and Dahlia looks away holding Gracie closer, Reminding her of the loss is the only way to get through to her. “His mate is that girl that was with him when you took him away. Because he’s a special wolf, they shared dreams all along.”

Dahlia frowns and leans into me. “Why does that b*tch have to be so special all of a sudden? She even made Naomi turn her back on me…” she mutters. “She was nothing but a useless worm before. I wish she’d just return to what she was.” She hides her face in my chest childishly.

I watch her and feel that insecure air around her makes me smirk. Just the way I like her… “That’s just how the world is, flower… not everything turns out the way the way you want after all.” I breathe in the specific energy and feel a rush from it. My hunger fades to a tolerable ache in the back of my mind.

“Ha! Still, she should be living in the dirt, not as a Luna of one of the most power packs around.” Dahlia frowns deeply and closes her eyes. “She should have died that night instead of making a full out of me! It’s so unfair!”
