Daisy

After everyone falls asleep including my loving mate, I slip outside for some alone time. Tomorrow is the day… the day the war finally begins. I’ve never been a violent person but I want nothing more than to sink my teeth into those who made Skylar the way he is now.

I can still see the scars all over his body, the smell of his blood mixed with infection, the fear in his hazel eyes… and the way he looks at me. My pup doesn’t see me as his mother yet nor does he see Aiden as his father. For making him lose his memories and abusing him… I’ll make them all pay.

I clench my fists feeling angry with myself. If only I could have looked for him from the start… but I couldn’t shift into my wolf form while I was pregnant. Aiden wouldn’t let me look either and had anyone keep an eye on me so that I wouldn’t fall into a deep depression. That ended up failing after I gave birth but that was no one’s fault.

Either way, I blame myself. If I could have searched from the start, then maybe I could have brought him home much sooner. Skylar could have been there to meet his little siblings. When I try to imagine his joy, I can’t see it. All I see is how he is now: scared, guarded, and cold like cornered prey. It shakes me to my core and I have no idea when or if I’ll be able to get it out of my mind.

I make my way into the woods. All I wish to do is to clear my mind and forget just for a moment. Instead, I focus on the task at hand. Tomorrow, I’ll be on track to make them all pay.

‘Don’t worry, Daisy.‘ Naomi chimes in my head. ‘Everything will be ok. We’ll rip them all to pieces and be back home with all of our pups around us. Soon, you’ll find peace.‘ She acts the rational one between us but I can sense her sharpening her claws already.

“I’ll find peace when they’re dead at this point,” I mutter under my breath. It sucks to say but I truly feel that way. Once upon a time, I’ve never dreamt of killing my twin for any reason even after everything she did to me. It just wasn’t in me to do so.

Now? Well, there’s nothing a p*ss*d–off mother wolf wouldn’t do for her pups. Joey would agree too. She wants nothing more than to get revenge for the distress Ebony was put through. As long as she doesn’t get the final blow, I’ll let her put a few hits in as well.

I stop in the middle of a clearing and look up at the sky. Being a wolf of the night makes the daytime so drowsy for me normally but now I can’t sleep. I’m too wired for that right now. I breathe in the afternoon air in an attempt to clear my mind… but it only brings me on high alert.

A familiar scent reaches my nose and I freeze in place. I know that scent and it makes my skin crawl. I look around frantically and hear the crunching of leaves to my left. His figure comes out into the sunlight. “Daisy…” he breathes my name as if his life depended on it. “Finally… I can talk to you alone finally!”

I clench my fists as he approaches me with a wild look in those hazel eyes. “Don’t you dare come any closer to me, Tristian Parker!” I snarl making him stop several feet away from me. He looks hurt and that alone makes me laugh.

How pathetic can this man be? Did he expect me to welcome him with open arms after everything he’s done? “Xander will have your head for coming onto his territory. Trespassing onto Royal Pack’s territory? You must’ve gone mad!” I then smirk. “Then again.. you do expect me to be excited to see you so why am I not surprised?”

Tristian flinches and takes a step back. He reminds me of my past self bowing my head down to him. He looks so beaten down but he deserves it. “Daisy, please… I–I want to make things right! I–I have information that can help you!” He stammers out his fists trembling by his sides.

I laugh again and scowl at him, “I don’t want any help from an abusive rapist like you,” I growl making him flinch and pale. “Get out of here and get prepared, b*st*rd. I’m going to make sure you suffer tenfold after what you’ve done to Skylar.”

Tristian swallows hard before stepping forward. “Daisy… I didn’t know it was you that night… I…” he grits his teeth together. “I woke up next to Dahlia…. didn’t know what I did…” his stammers and excuses only tick me off more but he keeps creeping closer to me.

“Take one more step and I’ll rip you apart.” I snarl lowly. “Go back home and just wait. You’ll see tomorrow when the war begins.” The panic in Tristian’s eyes is satisfying and thrilling to me. However, it fades as he only gets closer.

“That’s what I need to tell! There’s something you all need to know! That b*st*rd… he’s got something planned that will change everything!” Tristian suddenly grabs my arm. His eyes are bloodshot and crazed. “I–I don’t want to lose you, Daisy! Please listen to me, I…”

Chapter 86

My skin crawls again and I try to yank my hand away. Why is he so strong?! Fear runs through me. “Let me go, you b’st*rd!” I snap His eyes flash as Silas surfaces. He’s begging Naomi to talk to him, to accept him. He’s trying to force us to forgive and take him back but there’s no connection, ‘AIDEN!! scream my mate’s name in my mind.

A sudden flash of red appears next to me and Tristian is thrown backwards. He slams into a tree hard enough to knock the air out of him. Standing next to me is Aiden… no it’s his wolf in control. “Get your hands off my mate!” Ash snarls and stands in front of me.

Tristian wheezes and struggles onto his feet. “Please… just listen to me…” He looks so weak suddenly the desperation is gone now. “If you don’t… you’ll…” Then he freezes and I see the fear on his face.

“And what are you trying to tell Luna Daisy?” Xander asks calmly from behind. I look back and realize they must have followed me. I guess Aiden couldn’t sleep much like me. “What is so important that you had to trespass onto my territory?” That calmness isn’t a good sign.
