Knowing Hazel is getting targeted now does make me panic more than it should but everyone will be ok. The children and their mothers will be arriving shortly as suggested by Xander for their protection. Among them are Samuel, Hazel, and little Rosalina… and of course, my little pups will be here soon as well. Too bad my excitement is overshadowed by anxiety.

Aiden stands next to me and wraps his arm around my waist. “Everything will be ok, love.” He kisses the top of my head, “We won’t lose and we’ll protect Hazel. I doubt Samuel will let anything happen to her.”

I hear a snort coming from behind us and look back to see Peter rolling his eyes and scowling. The arrogant b’st’rd doesn’t want to see Samuel happy with his little family. At least Joey knows better now and dropped his “ss immediately. “Let’s just hope that he will use his head and protect his pup more than anything.” He mutters under his breath before meeting my eyes.

Aiden frowns and looks at his Beta. “Dude… what’s your deal? Stop acting this way or you can what inside.” He looks forward again and shakes his head while clicking his tongue. “The children are more mature than you sometimes. It’s not a good look at all, man.”

Peter chuckles and runs a hand through his hair. “I’ll keep that in mind, Aiden. Don’t worry… I can keep it together just as well as the next guy.” He doesn’t go back inside though. He has an unreadable expression on his face. Is he excited to see his pack members? Nervous?

It doesn’t matter to me. As long as he doesn’t try something with Sammy, I won’t have to step in. Peter should be ashamed of what he’s done for the first of his life. I only hope that Joey can recover and move on with her life. At least they never had any pups of their own.

‘Daisy?‘ I perk up as Samuel contacts me via the pack mind link. ‘We’re close by! Some of the Alpha King’s wolves are leading us to you.” A rush of excitement runs through me. ‘The little ones can’t wait to see you again.‘

I giggle softly and relax. ‘And I can’t wait to see you all again.‘ I’ve missed my little twins all this time. Maybe their presence will help Skylar warm up to us faster! Ebony is helping but it’s hard to be patient. I want to hug and hold my pup without him being terrified of me!

As they grow closer, my heart starts to pound. I can smell their scents already. Aiden pulls me closer as his excitement grows as well. This is the longest we’ve been away from Davin and Lily. Are they anxious and excited to see us too?

I sense a familiar presence and look back. To my surprise, Skylar has made an appearance hand–in–hand with Ebony. He looks jumpy but Ebony only whispers small encouragements to keep him going. She must have convinced him to join her in greeting our pack members. How sweet of her.

Skylar spots me staring before looking away quickly. A pang stabs into my heart and I look forward again. Dahlia needs to pay for harming and traumatizing my poor son! I’ll make sure it happens sooner rather than later.

“We’re coming in!” I jump at the sudden call and look up quickly. Three wolves walk into view and just behind him are my pack members. However, my éyes immediately fall on my twins.

“Mama! Papa!” They rush over to us Lily hugging Aiden and Davin hugging me. “We missed you so much!” Lily looks up at us with wide eyes. “Why did you leave without saying goodbye!” She pouts and puffs out her cheeks. “You’re so mean!”

Davin nods in agreement. “You promised to take us out into the forest and didn’t keep it, Mama!” He crossed his arms and huffed. “Keep your promises! It’s only right!”

I giggle and the two of us scoop up our little pups. I hug Davin close. “I’m sorry, sweet prince. Next time we can go out together. Does that sound like fun?” He pouts and won’t look at me. “Pinky promise?” His purple eyes widen.

The most sacred of all the promises for a little boy like him! Davin bites his lip before looping his pinky with me. “Ok! But you can’t break it ever!” He puffs out his cheeks cutely and I giggle poking one. Oh, how I’ve missed my little pups!

“Daisy!” Hazel calls out to me as she starts to approach us. Following close behind her is Samuel holding a sleeping Rose in his arms. She must have gotten tired from the journey here. “It’s so good to see you! I’m so happy that little Sky was finally found.”

I nod while Samuel smiles at me. “You must be over the moon with joy.” He murmurs and pats Rose’s back gently making her mumble in her sleep. “I know it’s hard because he doesn’t remember everything but he’s safe now.” I did tell him everything that was going on as he was my best friend. He’d

“That I am.” I relax. “Hey, little pups. Would you like to meet your big brother Skylar?” They gasp and look at me with wide eyes. “He’s sad and sick night now so maybe you can cheer him up? Just don’t ask so many questions ok?” I look over to Skylar who tenses under my stare. “That is… if he wants to meet you too.”

The pups follow my gaze over to Skylar and Ebony and squirm immediately. “Yes! I wanna say hi!” They cheer together. They may not look anything alike but they are twins through and through. “Sky will like us right?” Davin asks shyly afterward.

I smile. “Of course! Who wouldn’t love two cuties like you.” I motion for Aiden to walk with me and we make our way over to Skylar and Ebony. I hope this turns out to be the right move.

Skylar tenses and looks ready to bolt but Ebony squeezes his hand. She murmurs to him and he swallows hard trying to relax. I hate seeing him this way. I hope one day he can be that same confident little pup again.
