The Billionaire's Regret: His Secret Wife Turned Medical Genius novel Chapter 101

After washing up and getting dressed, Emily headed downstairs.

There, Hector was already respectfully waiting by the dining room door. "Mrs. Holton, breakfast is ready."

Emily didn't stop walking. Instead, she simply said, "No, thank you, Hector." Then, without looking back, she walked straight out of the villa gates.

Hector watched her retreating figure with a heavy sigh.

When would Gabriel and Emily ever stop tormenting each other? What was the point of this endless pain?

...

At the municipal hospital, in the Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery's office, Mallory sat slumped at her desk.

She clutched her head and was the perfect picture of a hangover. "Mills, my head's splitting. What even happened last night? How did I get home?"

Emily handed her a glass of warm water. "Roman brought you back."

"And you?" Mallory pressed.

Emily avoided her gaze and didn't answer.

Just then, there was a knock at the door. At the next second, Arthur stepped inside with breakfast, his expression refreshed and carrying a boyish charm despite the previous night's incident. "Good morning, Emily, Dr. Prescott."

He set some coffee and bagels on the table. "I grabbed breakfast. Eat it while it's hot."

His gaze then lingered on Emily, warm yet cautious. "Emily, the hospital sent out the notice—tomorrow at 9:00 am, we meet at Terminal 3 for the flight."

Emily nodded. "Got it."

Arthur smiled, revealing a pair of canine teeth. "I'll get back to work then."

As soon as he left, Mallory perked up. She nudged Emily's arm, waggling her brows. "Tsk, tsk. Mills, you're really irresistible. Did you notice the way that guy was looking at you? His eyes were practically glued to you."

But Emily ignored her and calmly bit into her bagel.

Mallory leaned in closer. "Seriously, why not give him a chance? He's young and strong. I bet he's got stamina in bed."

Emily nearly choked, and her cheeks began to flush red. She snatched another bagel and shoved it straight into Mallory's mouth. "Eat up. Stop talking nonsense."

However, the playful atmosphere was shattered by a sudden, frantic knock at the door.

The door cracked open, and a young nurse nervously peeked in.

"Dr. Sterling…" Her voice trembled as she continued, "Your father... wants to meet you downstairs in the inpatient department."

Maurice's pupils violently shrank as he stared at her in disbelief.

Emily's lips curled in a bitter sneer. "Weren't you always so proud of your precious son? Let him take care of you in your old age."

Without even giving him a final glance, she then turned on her heel and strode out. She would not spare another glance at the weeping man on the bed.

Soon, the door shut behind Emily, sealing off Maurice's wails of regret.

He let out a broken, animalistic cry as another murky tear slid from his eye.

Only now did he truly understand that he had lost his daughter for good.

...

At the Waverly residence in Eastbrook, Amelia paced the living room in agitation, her flawless makeup unable to hide the strain in her eyes.

When Aaron emerged from the study, his face was grim.

She rushed to him. "Dad, why hasn't Maurice made a move yet? Weren't we counting on him to make a scene at the hospital today to force Emily into going to Gabriel?"

Aaron looked at his anxious daughter and snorted. "Don't wait any longer."
