The Billionaire's Regret: His Secret Wife Turned Medical Genius novel Chapter 125

Gabriel walked to the end of the corridor and stepped into the elevator.

Once he was in, he blankly stared at his reflection in the steel doors. Then, he turned to Roman and said, "Move my things back to the Holton residence. And don't schedule any more meetings near that building at night."

Roman blinked. "You mean..."

"Just do it."

With that, Gabriel slid into the Bentley, pulled into traffic, and let the city lights blur.

Divorce wasn't on the table. He wouldn't sign the papers.

But he could give her some space.

That was the only thing he could offer.

...

For the next three nights, the door across the hall stayed closed whenever Emily came home. No one was leaning against the wall with a cigarette anymore.

At first, she told herself it was just a coincidence. But by the fifth day, when the apartment still remained silent, she knew Gabriel had backed off.

That was good news.

Emily's body finally relaxed, and she could feel the air turn lighter without Gabriel hovering around.

Not wanting to give this any more thought, she buried any concerns she had in her mind.

...

On Saturday night, lights sparkled inside a suite at a private club downtown.

Mallory lifted her glass and beamed. "To Dr. Sterling, our star doctor!"

Emily raised a glass of juice as the corners of her lips curled into a soft smile.

Meanwhile, Arthur swirled his red wine with a bright glint in his eyes. "One more for the road, Emily!"

The server followed her gaze and nodded.

Vivian pressed a thick wad of cash into his hand, then placed a small white packet on his tray. "Put this in her drink."

The color drained from his face. "Miss, this..."

Vivian let out a cold laugh and pulled out another stack of cash. "Do it, and this is yours. If anything happens, it won't be traced back to you."

The server stared at the bundle of cash. It was easily a year's pay.

In the end, greed smothered the hesitation. He pocketed the money and said, "Consider it done."

A minute later, there was a knock at the suite's door, and the server entered with a tray and a polite smile. "Complimentary cocktails. Our new signatures for you to try." He set down three colorful cocktails and deliberately placed a pink one by Emily's hand.

Mallory raised her glass with a grin. "Come on! To Emily getting her life back!"

Emily picked up the pink cocktail. The glass was cool in her hand as she brought it to her lips.
