The Billionaire's Regret: His Secret Wife Turned Medical Genius novel Chapter 77

Robert's eyes burned red as he let out a desperate roar and lunged for Emily.

But before he could reach the window, the suite door crashed inward with a thunderous bang.

Instantly, hotel security swarmed in behind riot shields—summoned by complaints from guests downstairs about fighting and a woman screaming.

However, when they saw the scene before them, even they froze for a beat.

They saw a woman in torn clothes standing at the open window while a man was rushing straight at her.

"Don't move!" the lead guard shouted as he drove forward.

Soon, two men had slammed Robert to the floor and pinned him there. Meanwhile, another guard sprinted to the window and yanked Emily off the sill.

Emily's body went limp. She crumpled in a heap as her consciousness slipped away, the room dissolving into chaos around her.

As Robert was being pinned down, his eyes stayed fixed on the unconscious woman on the carpet.

The playful glint that had always lit his eyes was gone, replaced now by a hollow despair.

...

Near midnight, the conference room felt like it had been sealed in stone.

Gabriel sat at the head of the table with an unlit cigarette between his fingers, his expression stern and icy.

Just then, his phone buzzed against the polished table.

It was an unknown number.

He frowned and declined the call. But it rang again and again, relentless as a ticking clock.

He finally answered.

"Mr. Holton? This is the Westport Precinct. Your wife, Emily Sterling, is..."

Before the officer could finish, Gabriel shot to his feet, eyes flaring wide.

Officers moved methodically, photographing and bagging evidence. Meanwhile, tension hung in the air like smoke.

Gabriel's gaze swept across the room.

He saw Robert being pinned by two guards. His hair was disheveled, and that carefree charm was gone. All he saw now was frenzy and despair.

Fury blazed within Gabriel before it iced over into a cold and murderous glint that reflected in his eyes.

He took a step forward but suddenly stopped.

He saw a figure curled in the corner of the couch. She was wrapped in a hotel guard's uniform jacket, the oversized coat making her look even more fragile than she already was.

Strands of hair stuck to her pale cheeks, and beneath the jacket, the shredded edge of a dress could be seen.

The lead officer turned to Gabriel, his tone grave as he said, "Mr. Holton, thank you for coming. We still need to investigate further, but our preliminary assessment is that this may be..."

"How is she?" Gabriel cut him off, his voice hoarse.
