The Contract Said No Strings Attached (Charlotte) novel Chapter 456

Rebecca parted her lips, her voice barely above a whisper. “Someone drugged me…”

Dylan’s brow furrowed as he mulled over what to do in a situation like this.

Then Rebecca grabbed his arm, her grip desperate. “Can I use your room for a bit? I just need a cold shower—I’ll be fine.”

The hospital was too far; she doubted she’d make it there in this state.

Besides, her own room still reeked of that wretched incense—going back in would be suicide. She hadn’t inhaled much, so maybe a cold shower would be enough to bring her back to normal.

Dylan’s first instinct was to say no—a sick person should go to the hospital, not just take a shower. But as he looked down at her, clinging to his arm, eyes pleading, he couldn’t bring himself to refuse.

He helped her into his room.

Once inside, Rebecca didn’t bother him further. She headed straight for the bathroom.

She turned on the shower, letting icy water pour over her, trying to douse the unnatural fever smoldering beneath her skin.

Twenty minutes passed, but Rebecca didn’t come out.

Dylan started to worry. He walked over and knocked on the bathroom door. “Are you alright in there?”

A few seconds ticked by before the door finally opened.

Rebecca stepped out, still shivering slightly from the cold.

She lifted her chin, trying to sound composed. “Yeah, much better.”

Dylan took in her calm demeanor, assuming she’d recovered. “So, what are you planning to do about that creep from earlier?”

Rebecca’s eyes hardened, a chill creeping into her voice. “I’m not letting him off the hook. Someone like that is a menace—I’ll make sure he rots in prison.”

Dylan nodded. “Alright. I’ll help you.”

Then he glanced at her, hesitating for a moment before asking, “What happened between you and Katherine? Why would she go so far as to hire someone to hurt you?”

He genuinely couldn’t understand it. Katherine was Alan’s fiancée, and this was supposed to be their first encounter—why target Raina?
