The Contract Said No Strings Attached (Charlotte) novel Chapter 550

Dylan remained silent.

It wasn't just Jonas. He himself had only found out recently.

Did that make him blind too?

But at this point, that fool Jonas was probably the only one left in the dark.

Mr. Hugh Austin spoke up reasonably, "Jonas has been abroad for a while. It's understandable that he doesn't know. Besides, Rebecca is just chatting with him. It's not as serious as you're making it out to be."

Mrs. Austin was relentless. "Chatting? Is that what you call chatting? Laughing and carrying on with another man in public? What will people think of our family?"

Jacob sighed in exasperation. "Alright, that's enough. Today is Dad's birthday. Let's not argue over such trivial matters."

At that, Mrs. Austin fell silent.

Mr. Hugh Austin didn't seem to mind. He continued, "By the way, Dylan, why didn't you bring the children?"

The old man couldn't stop thinking about the adorable little ones and had been hoping to see them again at his birthday party.

Mrs. Austin expressed her disapproval once more. "Why would he bring them? Seeing Rebecca is annoying enough."

The old man's expression immediately hardened, clearly displeased with his daughter-in-law's attitude. He said coldly, "Our Dylan can't have children. We might have to rely on Rebecca and those four kids for the future of our family line. And the more I see those children, the more I like them. I'm convinced they're my great-grandchildren."

Mrs. Austin sighed. "Dad, don't be fooled by her. Garcia already told me there's no way those four children could be your great-grandchildren."

Dylan's brow furrowed.

Had his grandfather's desire for great-grandchildren driven him to this level of self-deception?

The old man seemed to remember something and asked with a frown, "By the way, Dylan, did you ever see that doctor? What did he say?"

At the mention of the hospital visit, Mrs. Austin grew irritated. "Of course he didn't go. I went through all that trouble to get him an appointment, and he just wasted it."
