The Contract Said No Strings Attached (Charlotte) novel Chapter 556

Jonas, meanwhile, sat in his car and slammed a fist against the steering wheel, his face a mask of frustration and disbelief.

After a moment, Dylan walked over and tapped on Jonas’s window.

As the window rolled down, Dylan’s teasing voice drifted in. “What, you planning to hide in there like a coward for the rest of the night?”

Jonas turned to look at Dylan, then glanced over at Rebecca in the distance, his face burning with embarrassment.

“I lost,” he muttered, forcing the words through clenched teeth.

Dylan raised an eyebrow. “Glad you realize it.”

But Jonas was still fuming. He glared at Dylan and accused, “Dylan, I just wanted some time alone with Rebecca. Why did you have to ruin everything?”

Dylan scoffed. “Your idea of ‘everything’ is dragging her into a street race? That’s something a child would do. Have you grown up at all?”

Jonas stuck his chin out defiantly. “But Rebecca was clearly having a great time! What would a boring old fossil like you know about fun?”

Just then, Rebecca walked over. She looked directly at Jonas and said, “Jonas, I wasn’t having fun at all. I don’t like dangerous sports like racing, and I especially don’t like being treated like a prize in a bet.”

“What…” Jonas froze, completely stunned. Rebecca’s words were like a bucket of ice water, extinguishing his confidence and enthusiasm in an instant.

Did that mean all his bragging had just made him look like a fool?

And worst of all, he had lost at his most prideful skill—to Dylan, of all people.

Rebecca glanced at both of them. “I’m leaving now.”

With that, she turned and walked away without a second glance.

Jonas’s expression was worse than if he’d been crying. He wanted to call out to her, but the words wouldn’t come.
