The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan) novel Chapter 710

Samantha had been eerily quiet these past few days. But behind the scenes, she was far from idle. First, she went to the immigration office and secured a foreign citizenship; she was no longer tied to her homeland. Next, she was on a stealth mission, tailing Grant and snapping shots of him in intimate embraces with numerous women.

Then, she sought out a man from a rural area, a father of five struggling to make ends meet, working odd jobs in Millstone. Recently, he had even resorted to petty theft. Samantha made him an offer: take care of a particular job for her, and she'd set his family up with a cool million—enough to ensure they'd never want for anything again.

"It's a hanging offense," the man hesitated.

"Would you rather live poor or take a chance and die rich? Besides, it might not come to that," Samantha countered.

The promise of wealth tipped the scales. He agreed.

So, he began tailing Ronan, keeping tabs on Cordelia too, biding his time to strike at young Callum, whose image he had etched into his mind.

But Ronan was no fool—he caught on to the man's shadowing presence. Instead of confronting him, Ronan wanted to unearth who sent this would-be assassin. He suspected Samantha but lacked confirmation.

During a dinner with Grant, Ronan inquired about Samantha's recent demeanor.

"She's doing fine, seems like she's come to terms with things. Been quite the angel lately. Money does wonders," Grant remarked.

Ronan didn't buy it. Samantha wasn't the type to resign herself to fate, and at present, she was his only adversary. If she were planning her own demise, he wouldn't stand in her way.

Ronan noticed the man only followed when he was out with his children. Recalling Samantha's previous attempt to abduct Callum, he wondered if she was targeting the boy again. After all, Jayson wasn't his biological son—eliminating him served no purpose.
