The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 134

“Ella, can’t you just be good for once?”

The second his low, rough voice hit her, Ella felt her heart go soft. He needed her to behave. Really needed it, if the tension in his jaw was anything to go by.

Three years. That’s how long she’d spent tending to him when he was in a coma. In return, he made her life easy. Money, comfort, a spot at Central College. He’d clearly thought that should make them even, that they could go their separate ways and be done.

But Ella was never the obedient type. Last night, he’d already been irritated after hearing whispers about her “Sleeping Beauty” reputation. And now, thanks to her latest stunt, he’d been called to the college. “Warrior Princess,” someone called her. Great.

David had never faced this kind of embarrassment before.

Just then, the girl draped across his chest murmured, “You don’t even like good girls.”

He froze. “What?”

Ella braced her hands on his chest and sat up, her eyes shining as she looked down at him. “I do know about something, David. You like slutty girls.”

His features tightened. He didn’t expect words like that from someone who looked so innocent. She had the face of an angel but a mouth that could burn you.

She met his stare, unflinching. Her gaze flicked down to his lips for a second. “I saw you last night, you know. Outside the bar. Jessa was feeding you drinks. You liked it.”

Her eyes dared him to deny it, bold and a little reckless.

He remembered looking over his shoulder last night, sure he’d caught a glimpse of her outside. So she had seen everything.

“You want me to act right, but you’re out there flirting with anyone in a tight dress. Nice act, David.” She slipped off him, her voice laced with sarcasm.

She looked around for her slipper and realized she’d lost one somewhere. No way was she crawling around to find it, so she just sat on the bed again.
