Grandma Chelsea understood right away. “Alright, alright. Now I can stop worrying.”
Ella practically beamed as she linked arms with her. “Grandma, since you’re here, let’s go have some fun.”
Grandma Chelsea’s whole face lit up. “That sounds wonderful. I love hanging out with you.”
…
Ella and Lilly took Grandma Chelsea downtown. As they walked by a milkshake shop, Lilly nudged Ella. “Let’s grab some milkshake. They just released a new handmade taro flavor. It’s so good.”
Ella nodded without hesitation. “I’m in.”
Grandma Chelsea looked at them, a little curious. “You two drink milkshake?”
She hurried to explain. “Grandma, it’s fine if you only have it once in a while. It’s not bad for you…”
“Can you buy one for me? I want to try it.” Grandma Chelsea suddenly chimed in.
Ella froze for a second. Grandma Chelsea was already leaning over the counter, eyes shining with excitement. “I want that peach milkshake. It looks delicious.”
Ella and Lilly glanced at each other and burst out laughing.
Having a fun-loving, easygoing grandma at home really did make life brighter.
Ella waved at the cashier. “Hi, can I get a peach milkshake for my grandma?”
…
In a fancy French restaurant, the manager came over to greet them. “Mr. Harmon, Ms. Irvine, right this way.”
David had brought Jessa out for a candlelit dinner. He looked sharp in a black suit, and Jessa wore a long slip dress that made her look effortlessly beautiful. Together, they were picture perfect. The restaurant was filled with soft piano music and had the kind of romantic vibe you see in movies.
They took a seat by the window. The manager pulled out a chair for Jessa, who flashed David a sweet smile. “David, I heard Ella got into a fight at school today.”
No way.
David shook his head. It couldn’t be his grandma. She was supposed to be at home at the Harmon family estate. She hadn’t left the house in years. That outfit wasn’t hers, and there was no fancy car anywhere nearby.
Besides, his grandmother had never even tried milkshake, ever.
“David? Hey, what’s up?”
David snapped out of it. He must have been seeing things. Ella had been driving him crazy lately, turning his whole life upside down. Now he was even imagining things.
He clinked glasses with Jessa. “It’s nothing.”
Outside, Ella led Grandma Chelsea away from the milkshake shop. Soon, the three of them stopped in front of a place with a bright sign.
Blissful Foot Spa.
