The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 140

Mr. Lynch just stood there, stunned.

Alberto? Who was Alberto?

Wait… He was Alberto. But she couldn’t just call him that, could she?

He opened his mouth, ready to say something, but Ella barely glanced around, then spun on her heel and walked away without another word.

Lilly let out a barely contained laugh, shot Mr. Lynch a quick look, then hurried after Ella. “Ella, hang on, wait for me!”

Maureen and Sarah were left gaping. “Did you hear that? Did Ella just call Mr. Lynch by his first name? Is she out of her mind?”

They looked completely shocked.

Mr. Lynch just stared after Ella, speechless. This was already the second time. He honestly didn’t understand how Ella could toss his name around so casually. Didn’t she understand respect, or what it meant to be a student?

Only his mentor, Doctor E, was allowed to call him by his first name. And now she said she trusted Alberto to handle things? Unbelievable.

David watched as Ella’s figure disappeared down the hall, eyebrows drawn together. She really didn’t fear anyone. She just called his uncle by his first name.

Aiden stepped up, speaking quietly, “Sir, you have a candlelight dinner with Ms. Irvine tonight at seven. The French restaurant is already booked. We should head back soon.”

Now that things had thawed between him and Jessa, he was finally taking her out for a romantic dinner.

David turned to Mr. Lynch. “When does Doctor E’s lecture start?”

Mr. Lynch answered, “Tomorrow morning.”

David nodded. He’d be there first thing. He wanted to see for himself who this Doctor E really was.

Ella and Lilly walked toward the girls’ dorm, Lilly still giggling. “Ella, I seriously can’t believe you called my... Mr. Lynch by his first name. I almost lost it back there.”

Ella just shrugged. She honestly didn’t see what was wrong with calling him Alberto.

Suddenly, Ella stopped in her tracks. Up ahead, she spotted a familiar figure.

Ella’s eyes went misty. She buried her face in her grandma’s shoulder. “Of course I missed you.”

“I missed you too, sweetheart. That’s why I came by. See, I didn’t come in a fancy car or wear my best clothes. I came all by myself so I wouldn’t be a bother to you.”

Today, Grandma Chelsea wore a simple, clean dress, her silver hair pinned up neatly. She looked almost like someone else.

Ella felt a wave of emotion wash over her. She’d only said those things the other night because she didn’t want her grandma to worry.

She hugged Grandma Chelsea tight again. It felt so good to have her here.

“Ella, are you settling in at Central College? How are your classes? Are you getting along with your classmates? Have you made any friends?” Grandma Chelsea asked, her voice gentle and full of concern.

Lilly stepped up, flashing a sweet smile. “Hi, Grandma.”

Grandma Chelsea looked at Lilly, a little confused. “Allie?”

“Not Allie, Grandma, I’m Lilly. I’m Ella’s roommate and her best friend. Ella’s doing great at school. We all love having her around.” Lilly shot Grandma Chelsea a playful wink, hoping she’d go along and not say anything more.
