The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 145

David couldn't remember the last time he had kissed her. All he knew was that right now, with her lips pressed to his, a spark shot through him, leaving every nerve tingling like he’d been hit with a jolt of electricity.

Just then, she got bold. She deepened the kiss, teasing him with little flicks of her tongue, playful and light, like a kitten’s paw. Then she hooked his lower lip and gave a gentle, hungry suck.

The rush that shot through David went straight up his spine and right into his brain, like she was about to pull out his very soul.

He was breathless, his body heavy as he pressed her against him, not letting go.

Damn. His body remembered her, no question.

He’d never even touched Jessa. At his age, people expected him to have a little romance in his life, but he’d always been reserved, never really interested. It just hadn’t mattered.

But Ella was different. Ever since that stormy night, when she’d helped him and let him taste something he’d never known he wanted, he couldn’t forget it. Now, just being near her brought all those feelings back, stirring up a longing he couldn’t control.

It was frustrating, honestly.

He finally let go of her neck, and Ella gulped in the air, taking deep breaths like she’d just come up from underwater.

His body was still pressed against hers, heavy and solid. She pushed at his chest, trying to get some space. “David, let me go!”

His eyes were still a little wild, almost feverish. He braced himself against the window, hands on either side of her, and looked down at her. “Still want to tell me you didn’t have milkshake?”

He could taste the sweet flavor on her lips.

Ella quickly covered her mouth with her hand.

“Milkshake is all artificial sugar. It’s terrible for you…” she mumbled through her fingers.

“These days, milkshake is handmade. It’s fine. One cup won’t hurt your precious health.”

Her lips were still sweet and creamy, and he couldn’t tell if it was the drink or just her. She had an energy about her, something so fresh and full of life. Jessa had class, sure, but not this kind of charm.

David didn’t say a word. His eyes lingered on her lips, now shiny and red from their kiss, then looked up to meet her gaze.

What was he thinking?

David dropped the pile into her arms. “From now on, you need to focus on your studies. Finish all five sets tonight.”

Ella stared down at the thick stack, completely stunned. Worksheets? Was he for real?

Did he even know who she was?

Tomorrow, she’d be the one getting the last laugh. But for now, she had no way out.

She sat down and started working on the first page.

David ignored her, settling into his leather chair and turning his attention to the stack of documents on his desk.

An hour slipped by. Night settled over the city. When David finally looked up, he saw Ella slumped over the table, fast asleep.

She’d dozed off again.

David walked over. But when he saw what she’d written, he stopped in his tracks…
