The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 195

She’d never been able to figure out how Tim recognized her. Now, staring at the photo, it all made sense. Shocked, she looked up at Jessa. “Jessa, did you give this photo to Tim?”

Jessa’s eyes darkened with guilt and frustration. Why did Atlas have to take the hit for Ella? Why couldn’t it have been Ella instead? Now the photo was out, and Jessa’s face went pale.

David took the picture from Ella’s hand. He stared at it for only a moment, then lifted his eyes to Jessa, cold and sharp. His gaze cut through her, icy and unforgiving.

Fear crept into Jessa’s voice. She tried to play dumb. “What photo? I have no idea what you’re talking about! Ella, I know you’re upset about Atlas, but don’t accuse me without proof.”

Ella just laughed, but it was cold, without a hint of warmth. “Take a good look at this photo, Jessa. You really thought you could get away with this?”

Jessa glanced at the picture again, and her heart dropped. Right there in the corner was her phone’s logo. She’d forgotten to crop it out. She was caught, and she knew it.

She looked up at David, desperate. His eyes seemed even darker, bottomless and dangerous. He’d never looked at her like that before. She felt panic rising in her chest.

“David, it’s not what you think. Please, let me explain, I—”

Ella cut her off, her voice sharp with anger. “Explain what, Jessa? How you nearly got Atlas killed? I didn’t know you could be so ruthless. You’re the real murderer here.”

Ella lunged for Jessa, her anger barely contained.

With a frightened squeak, Jessa darted behind David, clutching his arm. “David, please, I’m scared. Don’t let her hurt me.”

Ella tried to reach her, but David stepped in, blocking Ella and shielding Jessa behind him.

Ella glared at him, her voice trembling. “So you’re really going to protect her? After everything she did? Atlas is fighting for his life because of her.”

Jessa gasped, eyes wide in shock. “Ella, are you crazy? How could you hit David?”

David was the kind of man everyone bent over backward for. No one dared to cross him, let alone slap him. Who did Ella think she was?

Before Jessa could finish, Ella’s hand flashed again, this time striking Jessa with a hard, clean slap.

Jessa was left speechless, stunned by the blow.

Ella had hit David. And then, she’d slapped her as well.

David slowly turned his face back, jaw clenched. Ella stood straight, her slim back rigid, her clear eyes fierce and cold. “You’d better keep her safe. Because if she ever ends up in my hands, you’ll both regret it.”
