It was Atlas.
He had just pulled up with the car. The moment he saw someone going after Ella, he threw himself in front of her, no hesitation at all.
The knife plunged straight into his chest.
“Atlas!” Ella screamed.
David tried to get to her, but he was too far away. All he could do was watch, helpless, as Atlas took the hit. He kicked down two men in black and finally managed to break free, running as fast as he could toward them.
That’s when Aiden appeared, leading a whole squad of security. Suddenly, the place was surrounded. Tim and his men didn’t stand a chance. They were quickly overpowered and caught.
Jessa came running, throwing her arms around David. “David!”
He tried to push her off so he could reach Ella and Atlas, but Jessa clung to him, trembling. “David, don’t leave me. I’m so scared.”
Atlas was on the ground now, blood soaking through his shirt. Ella dropped beside him, hands pressed desperately to his wound, but the blood kept pouring through her fingers. Her hands shook. She couldn’t understand why Atlas would take a knife for her. She was used to people being cruel. When someone showed her kindness, it always threw her off balance.
“Atlas, stay with me. You’re going to be okay.”
His eyes were already losing focus. Within seconds, he slipped into unconsciousness.
The ambulance arrived, sirens wailing. Paramedics rushed Atlas onto a stretcher. Ella climbed in after him, refusing to let go.
David, still trapped in Jessa’s arms, could only stand there and watch as the ambulance carrying Ella and Atlas sped away.
Whatever David was about to say got lost. Ella turned away, her expression shutting down. She sat on a bench in the hallway, waiting in silence.
David watched her pull away, closing herself off. Blood started dripping from his hand again, dotting the floor.
Aiden came running, voice low. “Sir, we took care of Tim and his men. We also found a photo at the scene.”
What photo?
Ella stood and took it from Aiden.
The sight of herself in the bright magenta bikini made her heart stop. Her eyes widened. All of this had started because she accidentally discovered Tim with his mistress at the hot springs. Tim had recognized her. He wanted to make sure she never told anyone.
