The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 193

David had been way too harsh with Ella. He really crossed the line.

A bitter ache settled in Ella’s chest. “I know David hates me,” she murmured.

Atlas looked like he wanted to say something, but stopped himself. “Ella, wait here for me, okay? I’ll bring the car around.”

She nodded. “Alright.”

Atlas walked away, leaving Ella standing there by herself. She waited, silent and small, when someone stepped up behind her.

David.

He’d come down too, wearing a black coat that made him look sharp and distant. He watched her for a moment as she stared at her shoes, deep in thought. David pressed his lips together, turned away, and started to leave.

Just then, Tim and his guys showed up. Tim’s eyes landed on Ella, taking in her graceful figure.

A slow smile spread across his face. “That’s her. Didn’t expect her to be this gorgeous.”

His men perked up. “Boss, she’s prettier than any girl we’ve seen out on the streets.”

“Look at her skin, her face, her body… Damn, I’d do anything to get her under me.”

“Boss, why not bring her back with us? We could have a little fun.”

Tim stared at Ella, tempted, but quickly sobered up. She had caught him in the act. The only way to keep a secret was to silence her for good.

“Don’t mess things up. She can’t leave here alive. You, go.”

He nodded at one of his men. The guy pulled a knife from his belt and started toward Ella.

David was almost gone when he glanced back and saw Tim and his crew. One guy was closing in on Ella with a knife.

The others drew their knives and charged at Ella.

Ella still had no idea what was happening. She heard shouting behind her, turned around, and saw a man lunging at her with a knife.

She froze, paralyzed by fear.

“Ella!”

“Ella!”

Two voices shouted at once. Just as the knife was about to strike, someone dove forward and pulled her into their arms.

Ella crashed into a warm embrace. At the same time, she heard the awful sound of a blade sinking into flesh. The noise made her skin crawl. Something warm splashed across her face. Blood.

She looked up at the man holding her, breath catching in her throat.
