The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 212

David stopped in his tracks and turned to look at Jessa.

She’d breathed in the incense too. Her cheeks were flushed, her lips parted, and when she stared at him, her eyes shimmered with heat and longing.

Rachel spoke up, her voice gentle but firm. “Mr. Harmon, Jessa needs you right now. You’re not really going to leave her, are you?”

David just looked at Jessa in silence, his expression impossible to read.

Jessa suddenly threw off the blanket and slid off the bed. She rushed straight into David’s arms. Across the room, Peter and Rachel exchanged a knowing look and quietly pulled the door shut behind them.

The thin strap of Jessa’s slip had slipped down her shoulder, leaving her looking vulnerable and heartbreakingly beautiful. She gazed up at him with pure adoration. “David, I knew it. I knew I was always your favorite.”

She wrapped her arms around his neck, stood on tiptoe, and leaned in for a kiss.

He turned away. Her lips brushed nothing but air.

She froze, then tried again, but he dodged her a second time.

David gently pushed her away. “Jessa, this is the last time. Don’t pull something like this on me ever again. If you do, you’ll have to deal with the consequences.”

His words were soft, but they cut like ice. The color drained from Jessa’s cheeks. That was a warning, not just to her, but to the entire Irvine family.

He turned and started walking away.

Was he really going to leave her now? With everything happening, how could he just walk out? What was she supposed to do?

Jessa ran after him and hugged him from behind. “David, please, don’t go. I need you.”

“Let go, Jessa.”

“Davy!” she blurted, her voice trembling with desperation.

“What’s David doing? Why isn’t he answering his phone?”

Ella dipped a towel into a basin of warm water. Her long lashes cast delicate shadows on her cheeks as she answered softly, “He is really busy tonight. Maybe you should try again tomorrow.”

“Busy with what?”

Busy with Jessa. The incense must have kicked in by now. They’d be in bed together, and there was no way he’d answer the phone.

Ella handed Atlas the towel and quickly changed the subject. “You’re still recovering, Atlas. You should get some rest.”

Half an hour later, the VIP room had gone completely quiet. Atlas was sound asleep in his bed. Ella sat on the cot beside him, texting Wyatt.

Wyatt: Ella, the Irvines have fallen for a scam. I checked into it. That fake Doctor E is backed by a whole fraud ring. The Irvines are all gamblers, and this time, they’re probably going to lose everything.
