The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 223

The only person Ella could turn to was her best friend.

Her phone buzzed with a new message from Fiona. “Sounds like your friend didn’t keep her man interested in bed. He slept with her once and already got bored.”

Was it really that simple? Could things fall apart so quickly?

Ella knew a relationship needed more than just chemistry, but physical intimacy mattered—a lot. David wasn’t shy about what he wanted, and he definitely expected his partner to keep up with him.

Had she failed him last night? Was he already over her after just one night?

Her phone pinged again. Fiona had sent another message. “Ella, this friend you’re talking about... it’s not you, is it? Did something happen between you and Mr. Harmon?”

Ella stared at her screen, unsure what to say. She took the easy way out and replied, “No, it’s not me.”

She set her phone aside and tried to sleep, but her thoughts were a tangled mess. Eventually, exhaustion took over.

By the time Ella opened her eyes, sunlight was spilling into her room. She got up, still groggy, and started her morning routine.

Halfway through brushing her teeth, panic hit her. David hadn’t used any protection last night.

They had done it three times, each time more intense and out of control. He hadn’t pulled away once.

And she’d forgotten to take her birth control yesterday.

Her heart started racing. There was no way she could have a baby with David. He wouldn’t want that either, she was sure of it.

It was too late to make one of her own herbal remedies. She didn’t have a choice. She had to get to the pharmacy, fast.

The pharmacist greeted her kindly. “Hi there, what can I help you with?”

Ella’s eyes landed on the box labeled ‘48-hour emergency contraceptive’. She knew she was allergic to one of the ingredients, but she was out of options.

“I’ll take that, please.”

She swallowed the pill as soon as she left and made her way back to Central College.

Ella lay curled up on the clinic bed, her body hunched and shaking, her face ghostly white. Sweat beaded across her forehead as she held her stomach, clearly in pain.

Lilly grabbed her phone and called David.

David was still at the hospital with Jessa, who seemed glued to his side, her head tucked against his arm.

“Jessa, do you want some mango?” Rachel offered, holding out a plate of fresh fruit.

Jessa pouted. “David, you feed me.”

David picked up a fork and brought a slice of mango to her lips. Just as Jessa opened her mouth, his phone rang.

He answered. Lilly’s voice came through, urgent and breathless. “Mr. Harmon, where are you right now?”

“I’m at the hospital with Jessa.”

“Ella’s in trouble and you’re still with Jessa? You need to get to the college now. Ella took the morning-after pill and fainted from an allergic reaction!”
