The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 234

Ella started to move forward.

Right then, her phone chimed with a bright ring. Mr. Lambert was calling.

“Hello? Ms. Irvine, there’s been a problem at the police station. You need to come right away!”

Ella’s stomach twisted. Something had happened to Fiona.

She spun around and took off running.

When she got to the police station, Mr. Lambert came to meet her fast. “Ms. Irvine.”

“What happened to Fiona?”

Ella didn’t get to finish. Her words trailed off as she spotted someone she knew all too well. Monica was there.

Monica looked as glamorous as ever, covered in designer labels. She didn’t come alone. This time, she had her usual crowd, plus two lawyers in sharp suits.

She walked right up to Ella, her lips curling into a smile. “Ella, I heard you came to bail out Fiona. You can forget it. Your best friend is staying right here, for good. She’s never getting out.”

Mr. Lambert leaned in close and spoke quietly. “Ms. Irvine, Monica brought two lawyers today. They’re both top attorneys from Harmon Corporation. That team never loses. They already denied our bail request, and with Harmon Corporation involved, things look really bad for Fiona.”

Ella’s eyes went icy. She never thought David would support Monica like this.

Monica turned to her, voice sweet and fake. “So, you know about me and Mr. Harmon now, right? I’m really sorry. I know he’s your husband, but he doesn’t love you. Mr. Harmon and I… we couldn’t help ourselves.”

Ella just stared back, silent.

Monica leaned in a little, her voice dropping to a whisper. “Ella, I also know you and Mr. Harmon finally slept together not long ago.”

Ella’s lashes fluttered. “How do you know that?”

Monica raised her brows. “He told me, of course.”

Ella felt defeated.

Just then, her phone rang again.

She pulled it out, and the name “David” flashed on the screen.

He was calling her now.

Ella answered. David’s voice was low and annoyed, filling her ear. “Ella, I’m at the city office. I’ve been waiting here. Are you coming or not?”

Her fingers tightened around her phone. She’d almost forgotten about the divorce. “David, something urgent came up. I…”

He cut her off, his tone sharp and cold. “Ella, what are you playing at now? You’re the one who wanted the divorce, and you’re the one who doesn’t show up. I don’t have time for your games.”

Is that really what he thought of her?

She couldn’t afford to argue with him now. She had to tell him about Fiona.
