David’s shirt and slacks were rumpled from where Ella had just been sitting on him, but in the low light of the bar, the wrinkles somehow made him look even more irresistible. Messy, wild, and just a little bit dangerous.
He didn’t bother answering. He didn’t say which one he liked more. He just grabbed a bottle, tipped it back, and finished it in one long swallow.
Monica was about ready to explode. That little bitch had come out of nowhere and stolen the whole show. The second she showed up, everyone forgot Monica even existed. She was invisible.
She was used to being the star, always in the spotlight, always surrounded by people fighting for her attention. But this girl just pushed Monica right back into the shadows.
Monica hated that feeling with a passion.
She slid quickly back into the seat next to David. “Mr. Harmon, I…”
Before she could get another word out, David set his empty bottle on the table, stood up, and walked away.
He just left.
He left her there, sitting all alone.
“Where’d Mr. Harmon go? Mr. Grimm, I need to get that girl’s number.”
“Forget it. She’s already caught Mr. Harmon’s eye.”
“How do you know?”
“Didn’t you see his pants? The bulge was obvious. She has got him all worked up. Do you really think she’d pick you over him?”
What?
That girl actually turned David on?
Monica could practically feel the jealousy burning in her chest. In her experience, David was always cold, distant, almost untouchable.
He’d always treated her with nothing but indifference.
But tonight, that girl got a reaction out of him. How?
She’d just gotten rid of Ella. Now this bitch shows up out of nowhere. Who even was she?
David’s mouth tightened. He stepped forward, his tall, commanding figure blocking their way.
The two guys didn’t even recognize him. “Who are you? Move it. Don’t get in our way.”
David’s eyes flashed cold. He said just one word, low and sharp.
Leave.
They stared at him, shocked. “Do you have any idea who we are? You think you can talk to us like that?”
One of them waved his hand. “Get rid of him.”
Their security guys rushed over without hesitation.
David was already in a bad mood. Ella was always getting him into trouble. As all these idiots were rushing at him, he just licked his lips and let out a cold little sneer.
He picked up a beer bottle, and as the first bodyguard charged, he smashed it down with a loud crack.
