The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 243

She thought about reaching out to Atlas to see if he could help.

When Ella arrived at Atlas’s villa, she found his assistant in the middle of packing suitcases.

She blinked in confusion. “Atlas, what’s going on?”

Atlas looked over at her with a small smile. “Hey, Ella. My dad just called. There’s some trouble with the company overseas, so I have to fly back.”

The Moore family had shifted their business abroad years ago. Most of their assets and offices were out there. Atlas had only come back this time for a short vacation.

But the timing of his return felt way too sudden. Ella couldn’t help but wonder if this had anything to do with David. Was David somehow behind this? Did he pull some strings to make Atlas leave?

“Ella, did you need something?” Atlas asked.

She shook her head. “No, it’s nothing.”

Atlas’s voice softened, his eyes warm. “Ella, do you want me to stay for you?”

She understood what he meant. This was his last chance, asking her one more time. If she just gave him the slightest sign, he would have stayed.

“Atlas, I’m not worth it. Someday you’ll meet someone who’s so much better than me,” she said, her voice gentle but firm.

She didn’t give him any hope.

Atlas didn’t seem surprised. He really did like her, but Ella had never given him a chance. There was nothing left for him to do but let go.

“Alright, then. I’ll get going,” he said.

“I’ll take you to the airport,” Ella offered.

He shook his head, a sad smile playing at his lips. “No, Ella. If you come with me, I won’t be able to leave.”

She stopped where she was. “Goodbye, Atlas.”

Atlas chuckled softly and pulled her into a quick hug. “We’re still friends, Ella. Don’t be a stranger, okay?”

Ella looked around, confused. “You all know who I am?”

“Of course, Mrs. Harmon. You’re still at Central College, right? We all heard about the time Mr. Harmon had to leave a meeting to meet your counselor in college,” one of the staff said, grinning.

Ella was speechless.

She hadn’t realized her little incident had become the talk of the entire company. Apparently, everyone here loved gossiping about her and David.

“Mrs. Harmon, don’t worry,” the receptionist said kindly, “A lot of us didn’t do so great at school either. But Mr. Harmon is a genius, a Harvard grad. He can totally help you with your schoolework. It’s really no big deal.”

Ella didn’t even know how to respond.

Well… okay, then.

They stopped outside a glass-walled conference room. “Please wait here for a moment, ma’am. He is inside meeting with some very important international clients.”

Through the tall, gleaming windows, Ella spotted David.
